The Book of
Isaiah
Chapter 31
Let us be reminded once again that the "things" (Mark 13:29) that are happening in our land and in the world at this late hour and those "things" which shall yet befall this aging final generation have all been foretold to us in our Father's Word (Mark 13:23). Also, in conjunction with that foretelling our Father has included many historical ensamples that He has had written (recorded) specifically for our admonition (1 Cor. 10:11) and to help us clearly "see" with understanding what would befall us in these last days. He has likewise included written fair warnings and woes, which are a crying out of lamentations concerning the consequences that would befall His people should they choose to follow the crooked and errant "path" of the serpent. Nevertheless, and the good news is, our Father dearly loves all of His children and does not desire that any of them perish but rather that they all come to repentance (2 Pet. 3:9) and be blessed with eternal salvation and happiness. For that reason, along with the aforementioned ensamples and woes and warnings, He never forgets to give us wise counsel and simple instructions about what to do in order to have that peace of mind and be truly protected from being bitten by the fiery serpents in the wilderness (John 3:14-15)!
We have now come to the 4th of the 6 "woes" that began back in chapter 28 and shall continue through to chapter 35 verse 10. This particular "woe" is direct to the point concerning the apostasy, the great falling away of our people in these last days as they continue to "go down", to slouch towards Gomorrah, to forsake His Word and put their trust in the things of this world and the worldly powers, even the New World Order, to bring about peace and to secure their physical and financial future well-being. How futile indeed are the ways of man for apart from God, without acknowledging the true Prince of Peace, there can and will be no peace. It seems our people will have to learn this lesson the hard way, which is by way of chastisement, but learn it they will for it is our Father's plan of love!
We as "One Nation Under God" are to trust in the Lord our God and follow His truth and execute His righteousness which is what brings about "liberty and justice for all". And as true *Israel, we are commanded never to place our trust nor submit our sovereignty to other nations like the New World Order, no matter how powerful they may appear to be! That's what this "Woe" is all about!Isaiah 31:1
Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!
.Note: If you do not know who the so-called lost 10 tribes of the House of Israel are and where they dwell today, then contact Artisan Publishers at www.artisanpublishers.com and purchase the little booklet The Abrahamic Covenant, by E. To that end, perhaps it is timely indeed that even as we study this "woe", this warning in this great 31st chapter of Isaiah, we find ourselves a nation who has come upon a fork in the road where we must decide what direction to take... left or right! We must choose whether we will remain as "One Nation Under God" or become apostate and elect leaders who will surely betray His trust and begin to rely on foreign nations and the New World Order for our peace and security. Woe to those who would submit this nation to a global approval, who would "go down to Egypt for help". That is apostasy, which is what the phrase to "go down" in verse one means. It literally means "to descend" or figuratively "to fall"... as in to apostatize!
The question before us thus becomes a matter of who are we going to trust? To answer that one should perhaps first consider the logical question of, "Who has the most 'fire power', man with all his horses and armored chariots, or Almighty God, the Creator of the universe (Col. 1:16)?" The truth is that the fire power of man, even all that he can muster with the entire coalition of his New World Order, can only kill the flesh, but the "FIRE POWER" of the Eternal God can destroy both the body and soul in Tophet, in Gehenna, in the funeral pyre at the end of the Millennium called the Lake of Fire! Now THAT's fire power! That is why Christ said not to worry about those who can kill the body but rather fear (revere) the One who has all power. Matthew 10:28 "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
And if you do not think God can handle little old "Egypt", then either you have not read what He did to Pharaoh and his army when he pursued our forefathers at the Red Sea, or else if you have read it you don't believe it! "Red" is symbolic of liberalism and socialistic communism and "sea" is symbolic of people. It was the power of Almighty God who parted that sea and made a path for His children to "cross over"! He can cut it! So you can either place your bet on Egypt and Pharaoh with all his horses of flesh and swift chariots or you can trust in the Lord your God who has ALL power in both heaven and earth. The ensample has been given for you to clearly "see" who has the power and who has the victory!
Here are some more details of the "woe" to apostates.
God is "wise" indeed and He knows exactly what He is doing. Furthermore, He has promised that He will come against the house of evildoers and oust every last one them out of the temple... cleansing it of the religious filth and iniquity! Included among those who shall be cast out are all those who help and support the workers of iniquity, which is what having "the mark of the beast in their right hand" means! It is written and so shall it come to pass.[2] Yet He also is wise, and will bring evil [i.e. adversity], and will not call back His words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.
Rest assured also that our Father sees all the iniquity that is taking place. However, as it is written, He has an appointed time to mete out just recompense to all according to their works. That appointed time is when He returns at the second advent which we will discuss in more detail when we get to the 61st chapter of Isaiah where it is called the Day of Vengeance of our God! Here is a preview:
Jesus Christ came at His first advent to pay the price on the cross and open up salvation to "whosoever will", regardless of race, color, or creed. That is what is meant by the phrase in the next verse, "To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD."Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
The first part of this verse "To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD" is the part Jesus read from the scroll of Isaiah when He stood up in the temple in Luke chapter 4. He then stopped right there in the midst of the verse and closed the book. You "see", the first part was fulfilled by His coming in the flesh to proclaim liberty, i.e. open up salvation, but the second part pertained to His second advent when He shall come as King of kings and Lord of lords to execute just recompense and to smite the nations with his sharp sword and to rule all nations with a rod of iron (Rev. 19:15), i.e. with the disciplined adherence to the truth and justice of His Word.[2] To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Those who mourn in Zion are those who lament and cry out because of the false messiah who is coming to stand in the holy place where he ought not (Mark 13:14). So what's it going to be for you, dear Christian, because your choice of "in whom you trust" has a profound impact on whether this nation will remain "One Nation Under God" or be subject to the captivity of the New World Order brought about by the godless workers of iniquity, the sons of Cain, and aided by their willing accomplices?[3] To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
There is no comparison of strength between weak and mortal men and their flesh horses (i.e. earthly powers) and the awesome power of the Creator of the universe! If a person falls short of believing that, then he or she really doesn't believe in God, wouldn't you agree? Yet most people, including most Christians, "see" only with their flesh eyes and when they behold the enormous size and multitude of the horses (symbolic of power) of an opposing army, they tremble and fear. Such was the case when the army of Israel beheld the Philistines and their champion mighty Goliath. Such was the case when the servant of Elisha awoke and saw the city encompassed with a great army. But the servants of the Most High God know He has the power to deliver them out of the hands of their enemies and so they always put their trust in Him knowing with certitude that His promises are sure and that NO ONE can prevail against them with God on their side. Romans 8:31 "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"Isaiah 31:3
Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
Remember we learned earlier that the New World Order, which is not new at all but rather the same old Satanic system present at the end of the first earth age (cp. Rev. 12:4 & Rev. 13:1), is going to be "smashed to smithereens" by our ROCK, that true stone cut out without hands (Dan. 2:34)! And as it is written here in Isaiah, "they ALL shall FAIL together", both the confederacy of the New World Order and all those who support Satan's attempt to bring about world peace without God, without acknowledging the Prince of Peace, even Jesus Christ.
The pictorial analogy given to us here is that the false shepherds can shout all they want... but the LORD like as a lion, for He is the very LION of JUDAH, the KING OF KINGS, will not be daunted in His purpose to fight for and protect that which is His beloved, even Mt. Zion, even Jerusalem. It SHALL come to pass exactly as it written that the LORD WILL, not maybe, come forth "roaring like a Lion (Hos. 10:11)" to fight for Mount Zion and for the hill, even Moriah that means "seen" or "chosen of God". You "see", Jerusalem was "chosen" by God and she belongs to Him! Have you ever read how the LORD God chose Jerusalem, even took her to wife as it is written and documented in the great 16th chapter of Ezekiel, to be His dwelling place for all eternity. Is there any wonder then that Jerusalem has been the scene of more wars and bloodshed that any other city in the history of the world? Is there any wonder then that this is the very place that the abomination of desolation (spoken of by Daniel the prophet), even Satan himself, shall come stand where he ought not and claim to be God, even the Messiah returned? Again, it is written that when he is cast out of heaven and comes to this earth defacto, the whole world will be deceived (Rev. 12:9) and shall fall down before Him ... becoming those apostates we read of in the first verse. That is why Christ told His disciples concerning that temple, the false one set up by the spurious messiah in Jerusalem, that it shall be destroyed so completely that there will not be one stone (false stone) left standing upon another.[4] For thus hath the LORD spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on [or over] his prey [i.e. protecting it], when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself [give in to them] for the noise of them: so shall the LORD of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.
Here's another analogy of how the LORD will defend His own, even Jerusalem.
Those who trust and rely on the LORD their God and the Rock of His salvation (Ps. 62:2, 6), even the Living Word of God, not only have His divine protection in the wilderness, but they have the victory in Him. This analogy of a bird fluttering over her nest and protecting her young is found elsewhere in the scriptures, including the great Song of Moses, which is the song the overcomers of the beast, those who have the victory in Christ, are singing in the 15th chapter of Revelation.[5] As birds flying [or fluttering], so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also He will deliver it; and passing over He will preserve it.
We read the same analogy in the New Testament in the 12th chapter of Revelation.Deut. 32:11
As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
The "great eagle" is symbolic of our heavenly Father. You "see", when Satan, that low-life serpent, is cast out of heaven with his angels and comes defacto to reign on the earth, the whole earth will become a wilderness, a spiritual desert, a world full of darkness and spiritual desolation indeed. However, the good news is for those who love and serve and trust in the LORD their God, is that He has promised to nourish, as in protect and nuture, and take care of His own. As for the rest... well, remember we learned that they will become prey for the dirty birds to feast upon their "spiritually dead" carcasses.Rev. 12:14
And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
So the relevant question is: "Will you turn to Him, to the Lord your God, or will you be among His many children in the land of the free who have deeply revolted* against Him by ignoring the truth of His Word?" It is a choice set before each and every one of us by our heavenly Father (read Deut. 30:15-20). We can either dwell under His protecting outstretched wings or we can be objects of the pouring out of His wrath when He comes.
Remember the subject of this chapter is "apostasy", both individual and national. And though it is written that the majority of our people are going to revolt (carah, apostatize) and therefore stumble and fall before the false messiah, you need not be among them IF you are willing to "Turn unto Him".Isaiah 31:6
Turn ye unto Him from whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted*.
*revolted, c*arah, saw-raw', Hebrew 5627; from Hebrew 5493 (c*uwr); apostasy, crime; figurative remission :- × continual, rebellion, revolt ([-ed]), turn away, wrong.
2 Thes. 2:1-3
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
[2] That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
This final generation of the fig tree which was planted on May 15, 1948 (see Fig Tree), which is commonly called the generation of the Baby Boomers, has truly "waxed fat", as in become a generation of "fat cats" where peace and prosperity abound. To that end, their focus, i.e. their priorities, has turned more and more to the things of this world and further and further away from the foundation that made this nation great, and that foundation which even our beloved Constitution is taken from, is the Word of God. This turning away by this generation from His Word, due to our prosperity, can be found in the Song of Moses in Deuteronomy 32.Isaiah 31:7
For in that day every man shall cast away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made unto you for a sin.
"Jeshurun" is a figurative name for Israel in her prosperity. Our people have indeed "grown thick", as in become "thick headed", and because they are rich and increased with goods they have need of nothing, or better yet "need of no one" other than themselves, to give thanks and honor and praise to for their blessings. However, the truth of the matter is that though they are materially blessed, they are spiritually blind and naked and destitute because they have revolted (apostatized), i.e. forsaken the Word of God!Deut. 32:15
But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
They need to mentally and spiritually "cast away their idols of silver and their idols of gold" from the foremost thing in their minds and begin obtaining the only real wealth there is, the gold contained in the Word of God, whereby they may become spiritually rich and become clothed with His righteousness so that they will not have to appear ashamed and spiritually naked when He returns.Rev. 3:17
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Do you have eyes to see and ears to hear the Spirit of truth, because those Christians who are all caught up in their worldly possessions and careers, etc., cannot "see" what is being said, because the Word of God is not in them, i.e. they are Biblically illiterate?Rev. 3:18
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.[22] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Those who do know the Word of God know what shall befall this final generation and that both Satan and his New World Order are going to come to crashing down at the sound of the 7th Trump when the King of kings and Lord of lords comes with His mighty sharp two-edged sword to smite the nations and rule them with a rod of iron. It is written and so shall it come to pass!John 14:17
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Yes, Satan and his blasphemous New World Order are going to be crushed by our Rock and the nations shall be smitten by the sword of God at the sound of the 7th Trump!Rev. 19:15
And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
You can either believe it now and begin trusting in the Lord your God... or you can align yourself with "Egypt", with the United-For-Greed-Nations of the New World Order, and end up running and trying to hide because you were on the Woe side at the Woe time because you trusted in the Woe thing!Isaiah 31:8
Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.
Yes, it'll be "a hot time in the old town" of Jerusalem when you see the brightness of the Lord's coming (2 Thes. 2:8)! And then you can run... but you cannot hide. You "see", sooner or later you will face the Lord Jesus Christ because He SHALL come against the house of evildoers and oust every last one them out of the temple. There will be a "Shock and Awe" such as this world has never experienced when they see His ensign, His Chariot of Fire, the very "Chariot of Israel" and the horsemen thereof (2 Kings 2:12)"... even with that ensign of the Eagle on its wings (Ezk. 1:10)![9] And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the LORD, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
Remember too that God is a consuming fire (Heb. 12:29) and we learned that His fire which shall begin in Jerusalem shall burn with a fervent heat and melt away (completely destroy) all the "elements", meaning all the evil rudiments, as well as all works of iniquity on earth. It is written and so shall it be.
What a time we have yet to look forward to. Our heavenly Father is in complete control and His promises are as sure to be fulfilled as the sun is to rise in the morning. You can always count on Him to be faithful and true, but such is not the case with man. Therefore turn to Him and trust in the Lord.."...Hearken diligently unto His commandments which He commands you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul (Deut. 11:13)."
To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits;
to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy
Spirit, you accomplish both.
