Amos
chapter 6
Therefore in chapter 5, verse 18, of the Book of Amos, He gave churchgoers a "Woe" of warning and said in verse 24 that it is "judgment" running down from the high places of the land as a torrent of waters and it is "righteousness" flowing as a mighty river that is "music to His ears". You see, church does not impress Him at all, especially when so very little of His Word is taught there. He makes it very clear that He wants us to love Him and to Seek Him, through His Word, not Beth-el (church).
The Lord is now going to sound another "Woe" of warning through the herdman, Amos, to the leaders of our people in chapter six. That's right, these two "Woes" in Amos are given as warnings of His wrath to come and God help those who are on the receiving end of the cup of His indignation when He pours it out upon the ungodly in the very near future. And as we shall see, the first to be "Walloped by the Woes" are the leaders of our people, both religious and civil, i.e. the priests and preachers followed by the lawmakers, judges, etc., for they are those to whom our people come for righteous decrees, for judgment and justice. Unfortunately the injustice in our land has gone so far that now all too many of our people also look to them for their security through entitlement programs such as health care and social security and education and other system benefits all designed to allow the government to be the big brother provider of their security, i.e. to take care of them!
When our Father says "woe" to someone they had better watch out. The scripture declares that if "God be for us", i.e. He is on our side, then "who can be against us?" However, the reverse of that is also true. If God is against you, Woe baby, who can be for you, i.e. to whom can you turn for help? Answer: NO ONE! You must reconcile with Him!Amos 6:1
Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!
One thing should be obvious and self evident when you look at the religious and political leaders of our people, i.e. the men and women "which are named chief", to whom our people look for "judgment and justice" (see the structure on chapter 6 and the note on verse 1 in the Companion Bible). Many of them have become a bunch of arrogant, self serving hypocrites who have set themselves up to enjoy the "good life" at the expense of their own people by supplying themselves with "pork barrels of perks" while at the same time exempting themselves from many of the laws and ordinances which they have prescribed for Joe Citizen. In fact, you will find this same Woe in the Book of Isaiah:
To whom are you going to turn? We learned in the last chapter that "There is no Escape" and there is none other than the Lord thy GOD who can save your wretched dry bones! You better get your act together and listen (Hear ye) and take heed to the words of the holy prophets.Isaiah 10:1You lawmakers on Capital Hill prescribe and write much grievousness for our people. But be forewarned: While you "are at ease" now, you are also prescribing your own future grievousness which shall fall upon your self-serving heads, for it is written that you shall reap what you sow at the time of harvest. Hint: Go visit a winepress and get a clue!
Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;[2] To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!Yep, that describes many of them![3] And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?
Calneh means "Fortress of Anu" and Hamath, which we shall discuss later in this study, was located on the northern border. Of course Gath, which means "winepress", was the native place of the giant named Goliath. These were once powerful surrounding countries which were militant and oppressive to their people and they were eventually all overthrown. The point is, you guys better get your heads out of the sand and do a little looking around at neighboring countries, even those who now make up the beast of the New World Order. You see, you will not find a nation more blessed with natural resources and riches than this one nation under God, this land of the free and the home of the brave which He endowed with wave after wave of golden grain and purple mountains majesty. So the question is: "Are we now to rely on our own strength, apart from God, and thus become as other nations, even overthrown?" Haven't you read how our forefathers forsook His Word and look what happened to them? They were taken captive and scattered among the heathen.Amos 6:2
Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border?
You have caused injustice to overtake our people. You men (and women) of stature who occupy the seats in the assemblies of our people, who trash that which is right and believe in your own greatness and you own ability to determine right and wrong and what is best for other people, you do not believe, nor do you even care to know, that calamity is about to befall our people. Worse yet, you are the ones responsible for bringing that evil day upon our people, and that at a rapid pace. That's right, you hasten the day of vengeance for His wrath is kindled by your injustice and your idolatry and your disgusting arrogance. You will soon find out who the Lord God is and who is charge when Jesus Christ comes to the Valley of Jehoshaphat (judgment) to put an end to your corruption. It shall happen as it is written. Woe unto you![3] Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
You live luxuriously off the "fat of the land", even off the lost sheep of the house of Israel whose wool you shear at every opportunity.Amos 6:4
That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall;
All one needs to do is to look up the words in this verse using a Strong's Concordance, i.e. do a little word study, and you will have absolutely no difficulty understanding what the Lord is saying through Amos. Quite simply, they spew forth a bunch of hot air and fabricate devices,"songs and dances" we say, while pretending that they are like David, i.e. that they care for the flock. The difference is that David fought the lion and the bear, and he stood against the giant in the name of the God of Israel, but not these guys! They invite the prey themselves into the sheepfold to partake of the feast... ummm, "lamb chops".[5] That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David;
[6] That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
Of course our Biblically illiterate people, anesthetized with the traditions of men instead of awake and alive with His Word, let them get away with it.
We had better start paying attention to the words spoken of by the holy prophets, like the herdman Amos.
The apostle Peter reminds us to do just that:
Next we learn what shall happen to those "chief men and women" who are at ease:2 Peter 3:1This is important to keep in mind!
This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:[2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:Better listen to what old Amos has to say, right?[3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,Scoffers only pretend to have your best interest at heart but they do not! They are concerned with their own self interests.No, the sand is running out of the hour glass and our Father shall bring this flesh age to a close real soon![4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
They are goin' down first! The big party is soon over! Your "bowlfuls of wine" shall soon turn to bitterness in your mouths.Amos 6:7
Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive, and the banquet of them that stretched themselves shall be removed.
Palaces are citadels. God abhors the false glory, the false security put forth, and the pompousness of our leaders (not all, but far too many).[8] The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein.
Remember this is addressed to those fat-cats who live in winter houses and summer houses. They shall be spiritually slaughtered by His "fire". God is a consuming fire. (Heb. 12:29)[9] And it shall come to pass, if there remain ten men in one house, that they shall die.
They are all bunch of spiritually dead dry bones (Ezek. 37). What does it mean "Hold your tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD?"[10] And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD.
"We, therefore, the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions,"

[11] For, behold, the LORD commandeth, and he will smite the great house with breaches, and the little house with clefts.
[12] Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:
Amos 6:13
Ye which rejoice in a thing of nought, which say, Have we not taken to us horns by our own strength?
"And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."
[14] But, behold, I will raise up against you a nation, O house of Israel, saith the LORD the God of hosts; and they shall afflict you from the entering in of Hemath unto the river of the wilderness.

And the families of the scribes which dwelt at Jabez; the Tirathites, the Shimeathites, and Suchathites. These are the Kenites that came of Hemath, the father of the house of Rechab.
The kenites claim to be of the House of Judah and lay claim that they are God's chosen people. (read Rev. 2:9 & 3:9 very carefully) But they are not of Judah as both the churches of Smyrna and Philadelphia in this final generation know full well (Rev. 2:9 and Rev. 3:9).īP÷ qayin kah'-yin #7014

Revelation 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
Revelation 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
You better learn who they are for like locusts they have already consumed the treasuries and most of the "vineyard" of true Israel. In chapter 7, Amos will be shown a vision of the locusts and see how "small" Jacob, the natural seed of the House of Israel, has been reduced to when the locusts have finished "eating all the grass".
