Jesus was crucified on what would be our Wednesday, was buried hastily before  sunset and rose from the tomb, 3 nights and 3 days later on Saturday before sunset.
I am not sure why the church (it was most likely the Roman church) chose to celebrate our Lord's Passover from Friday till Sunday, but I suspect it was to always make it fall on a weekend (Sunday, for the sake of the felt lined plate I would guess, of course the Protestant church never corrected it, same reason is my guess. The felt lined plate is always more important than the "Word of God" to most all of us humans), but why Friday? When that is only 2 days and 2 nights in the tomb!, even if you count Friday day and night, and Saturday day and night. We know He was not in the tomb on Sunday before sunrise.
Mark 16:1-6, But even counting Sunday, by ignoring Mark 16:-6 , that is only  3 days and 2 nights! Now I know Jesus said He would rise on the third day, and that is what the church hangs it's hat on, but it can't be used in this case because in, (Matthew 12:40 - KJV – For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth)  Jesus Himself defined those 3 days as including nights also. The other problem I have with the church celebrating our Lord crucifixion and rising again from the dead, is their calling it Easter (they couldn't call it what it is (Passover), passover is already a Jewish holiday). So they named it after the pagan spring festival making it Pagan Worship, but we call it Christian, so we think God doesn't notice! Ashtaroth, the queen of heaven. (Judges 2:13  And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.) Ashtaroth, the queen of heaven.  We worship her with Easter (fertility) eggs and (quick like a bunny) Easter bunnies (SEX Symbols like the Ashtaroth religions). We will all have to answer to the Lord for that at his return. Of course we put upright spires on our church building too (you know what they represent) Look up groves in your Strong's Concordance. Sex, Sex, Sex!
