However there is another part to this book of Job, and that part is the heavenly hosts, also called the angels of God. These angels of God appear before God even as we are living our lives here on this earth. Satan is also appearing before God in his role as the great deceiver. So we must remember that those troubles that came to Job was not at the hand of God, but at the personal request of Satan. So if you are one of God's elect, you must remember that the discussions that are taking place by these friends of Job are actually blaming Job for what was happening to him, as was stated earlier.

God was proud of Job and He bragged about Job, He asked Satan, "What do you think of My Job?" God is proud of His elect, as He was proud of Job. Satan told God, "Job is true to you only because you have build a wall around him, and with his wealth comes his praise of you. You take that protection away from Job, and He will curse you right to your face." God than allowed Satan to test Job to see just how true Job was to our Heavenly Father, and He took the shield away from Job, and he lost everything. Job broke out with sore boils from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. So we see that Satan is the one that brought all these things upon Job, not God.

So we must keep this in mind as we study this book from now on through the next thirty four chapters. God has a plan for His elect, and Job is the foundation book that is written to the elect to cause each of His elect to hear and know that there are purposes in that plan for you, both in the heavenlies and here on the earth. There are three earth ages, and we must realize that God is dealing with Job, and His elect, in this earth age. The plan God is using these characters, Satan, Job, and Job's three friends, as well as Job's family who will be taken from him and restored at later date with another wife, and far more children. The hosts of the angels are also very much a part of God's overall plan, so keep in mind all of the three ages and the things that pertain to each age.

Job 4:1 "Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,"

"Eliphaz" in the Hebrew tongue means, "God is my strength." There is no other strength other than God. Today we have the Holy Spirit to turn to, so that we can rebuke Satan. Job lived in a time when he did not have that right to rebuke Satan, because Christ had not yet paid the price for our sins to set Job free.

Job is sitting with his three friends, and for the past seven days, there has not been one word spoken. Now after a week of silence, Eliphaz is going to speak to Job and offer some of his advise. Remember, Eliphaz's advise is all based on Human experiences.

Job 4:2 "If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?"

Eliphaz is saying that what he is about to say is going to be very hard on you Job, but I must say it. Eliphaz has been sitting there in silence for the past week, weeping over his friend's ordeal, and now he just can't help but say something to Job. So Eliphaz is going to give Job a little of his [human experiences] wisdom.

Job 4:3 "Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands."

Job 4:4 "Thy works have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees."

Eliphaz is reminded Job that he has picked up and strengthened the weak, and now look at what has happened to you.

Job 4:5 "But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled."

Eliphaz is saying that you have given much advice but you have not taken any advise from others. Now with all this advice that you have given, look what your instructions to others has cause you.

Job 4:6 "Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?"

This verse loses so much from the Hebrew, but what it is saying is; you have your religion and your faith but where as it gone from you. Have you lost your uprightness of your ways?

Job 4:7 "Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?"

Eliphaz is pointing to Job's position of poverty and sickness and he is asking Job; can you tell me one place where God has ever cut off a righteous man. Eliphaz is implying to Job that the reason for Job's condition is that Job is a sinner before God. He's a real good buddy, the type that will rub your face in your grief when you are down.

Job 4:8 "Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same."

Eliphaz is saying that he sees sinners everyday out there reaping what they have sown, and now stop and look at you, Job. The implication is that Job is reaping some of what he had planted to others. However remember that God was proud of Job, no matter what is in the mind of this so called friend of Job.

Job 4:9 "By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of His nostrils are they consumed."

Now Eliphaz is turning the blame away from Job, and putting the entire blame on the Heavenly Father. Don't you forget for one moment that it was Satan that was causing the harm to Job, not the Heavenly Father. Satan put the boils on Job, and Satan took the lives of his loved ones. Satan also stripped the wealth from Job, and cause him to sit here in his troubles in poverty. God's purpose was to prove how God loved and trusted Job; God allowed Satan to have his way with Job, to the point of not taking his life.

Job 4:10 "The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken."

There are five Hebrew words, meaning for different types of the "lion", and they are included in the the tenth and eleventh verses.

Job 4:11 "The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion's whelps are scattered abroad."

A rough harsh man is considered a lion in the days of this writing. So now apply this to these verses. "A unrighteous man [lion], a cruel man, a loud man and so on; This speaker uses five different terms and each of them are describing Job's state of being. Job was neither of them in his life, only Eliphaz in his quest for human understand over looks that fact.

Job 4:12 "Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof."

Eliphaz is telling Job that he had a vision, and in that vision God spoke to me. This was to dress Job down a little bit and give credit to what he was going to say to Job. To add insult to Job, Eliphaz is reminding Job of the boils that are covering him, and the real losses that he has suffered. Now he turns to Job and asks Job directly what he has done to deserve such trouble in his life? In time God will intervene into the message and give us His overall plan. Man must learn to understand the heavenlies as well as the things that go on in this earth age. So are we going to see the Holy Spirit move into the discussion here?

Job 4:13 "In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,"

This is what Eliphaz's vision was about. What spirits was Eliphaz listening to?

Job 4:14 "Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake."

When you see a vision that causes your entire being to shake, that is the presence of the supernatural. There are two types of supernatural powers; one is Satanic, while the other is from our Heavenly Father. When either is present it is an awesome feeling.

Job 4:15 "Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up:"

This spirit that passed before Eliphaz in the vision, it scared him and caused him to rise to his feet.

Job 4:16 "It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying,"

This is a thought process that is spoken of here, for the voice does not have to be audible. The only thing that matters is what the mind comprehends, and being fed into its memory. So this is what that spirit said to Eliphaz in that vision.

Job 4:17 "Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his Maker?"

This message is not given just for Job, because this man had also been dealt with by God. However, whatever happened to Eliphaz was given to him so that it could be recorded as part of the Scripture here. "Mortal" means "liable to die", flesh, and clay. The question asked is; What can you consider of yourself when compared to almighty God. What ever happened to Job was not because of what Job did, but Job's problems existed so that God's plan could be considered in the Scriptures. These words that are written down here have been considered for the past three thousand five hundred years by men and women of every generation. What happened to Job was destiny, Job's destiny is part of God's holy Word. Anyone that is part of God's elect may be moved into a position whereby God can use that person for His divine purpose. that sounds so right, but is it?

Now we go to the heavenlies. Remember though, it is not God speaking but Eliphaz.

Job 4:18 "Behold, He put no trust in His servants; and His angels He charged with folly:"

Eliphaz is talking of God of the heavenly host; God put no trust in his angels lest they be charged with folly. Satan wasn't an angel, but a protective cherub. Satan was created for a certain purpose, only he refused to be obedient to that call.

Ezekiel 28:14 "Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God, thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire."

Ezekiel 28:15 "Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee."

Ezekiel 28:16 "By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire."

Satan was so perfect that at one time he walked on the fires of coal from the altar of God. He was perfect in all ways in his created being, yet in his perfection, he sinned a great sin. Even with all his intelligence and beauty, he sinned.

Ezekiel 28:17 "Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cause thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee."

Satan will be brought down at the coming of Jesus Christ at the seventh trumpet, and that sin that took over Satan was his pride. Satan's pride took over his mind and caused him to think that he could be greater than God.

So this verse in Job, in the Hebrew, is showing that the angels in heaven, and Satan are separate from God and the other heavenly hosts. It also shows that all of the heavenly hosts are far removed from mortal man. There is a difference here. This supernatural spirit is saying, "if I call my supernatural being foolish, what do you think I am going to call you people in your mortal bodies?"

Job 4:19 "How much less in them that swell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?"

This is a reminder that we have very little of our thinking capacity while we are in our mortal body, so how can you ever compare yourself to an angel or any supernatural being of the glory of God. You can't. We are to put all things into perspective here, and this vision almost answered Job's question. It is showing us part of the plan of God. What happens in this age of the flesh is done according to God's plan, and not to what some man or woman in the flesh thinks they shall do. When the time comes for that soul, it is God that determines whether man [woman] lives or dies.

Job 4:20 "They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it."

Eliphaz is reminding us from his vision of his that mortal man perishes or dies every day, and there is no way that mortal man can prolong that day that God has set for him.

Job 4:21 "Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom."

When clay man dies every day, their soul leaves their body, and there is no wisdom left in the body. It simply doesn't matter how smart a man is or what he has in his mind, for when his life leaves his body, it is nothing but dust that remains on this earth. Unfortunately this has been altered a great deal from how it was written. This verse deals with the flesh body at death, and compares it with a tent collapsing.

In the Hebrew text the vision compares man in the flesh, like the striking of a tent. The method described in the manuscripts, "They were stuck.." [implying a body as a tent]; and the excellency that is in them is in their soul, and that souls at death goes back to the Father that sent it in the first place. This is used as a graphic lesson to describe what happens to the body at death. What happens when the tent pegs are pulled and the pole are laid to their side? The tent collapses, and the air is taken from it. This is describing the soul leaving the flesh body when it dies.

When you take a "Green's Interlinear" and check out what the manuscript actually says, you find out that the translators have left out the entire thought dealing with the tent that was written in this verse. This verse has been so mishandled that it has no resemblance to what was actually written in the manuscripts dealing with our lives in these flesh bodies. It should teach us to watch the translations because there are deceivers at work in their translations that would cause you to lose the entire point given here.

This shows that the spirit returns to the Father at death. It tells us that there is an heavenly body and an earthly body to each of us, as it is brought forth so perfectly in the Hebrew manuscripts, in the explanation of death. "Is not the tent cord plucked up within them." "Plucked up," means you have pulled the tent pegs out of the ground, and the tent collapses into one big heap.
