Chapter 35

"Elihu's Words to Job continued."

Once again lets look at the Hebrew name "Elihu". It means "God is Him", and to the Elect that knows our Heavenly Father it is referring to YHVH the Father. However to the world there are many gods, and at times we wonder which god this Elihu is talking about. This god that Elihu is speaking of seems more like a deceiver than the one true living God that we worship.

The reason that I bring this up is that the entire book of Job is written to God's elect. Satan was brought to the center and his face flash upon the scene in the presence of the other angels, and it was stated outright that Satan was one of the principal characters in this book. Yet Satan has not been mentioned since the second chapter by name.

So it is only natural and befitting as far as the elect are concerned, that there must also come false teachers, and Elihu happens to be one of those false teachers. Many disagree because of the many things that he says which are true statements of fact. However, it is the use of those true facts that makes Elihu a false teacher. Though Elihu states that he knows everything about God, God's Word makes it very clear that he does not. Anyone that follows Elihu or his kind, would not be following a servant of the living God.

God is using thes book of Job to test the wisdom of His elect, and to see how gullible we are. This entire book is like the teachings of Paul in II Corinthians 11:3 where it says; "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." Elihu is using the same deal of subtlety, to even seduce you into believing a lie by his use of truthful facts to gain your confidence. Paul said if some super preacher comes along, you seem to want to swallow everything that he says. You stop trying to think, and you allow him to lead you into other direction.

We are in the last days of this earth age, and the elect of God must keep our physical selves so positioned that our mind is sharp. Elihu is very simple in comparison to the worldly scholars and experts that will be thrown at the elect in the last generation. Friend, the last generation started many years ago, and the one would system that has chartered every nation in the world to it's rolls has been in existence for the past fifty years. That system is the one which set up the return of the Jews to Palestine way back in 1948. The point here is that you must not be deceived in these latter days. You must be alert and focused of on the signs of our time, ready to make a stand against Satan's plan for the last days. God is using Elihu to prepare us for what is coming upon us.

Job 35:1 "Elihu spake moreover, and said,"

Job 35:2 "Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, `My righteousness is more than God's?"

Do you see something wrong with what Elihu is saying here? Elihu is talking to Job and asking him, "Is this right Job that you said that your righteousness is greater than God's righteousness?" The point that should stand out right away us that Job never did make such a statement. Elihu is trying to take what Job said, and misquote him, put words in his mouth. What Elihu has just said is a lie, and now Elihu wants Job to endorse his lie. Job has never claimed that his righteousness is more than God's.

This is the same man that spoke in the last chapter and stated that he had God's Spirit in him, and the question should be, "which god", for it surely is not our Heavenly Father.

Job 35:3 "For thou saidst, `What advantage will it be unto thee?' and, `What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?' "

Do you know that Job never did say this either, this quote from Job also is a lie. When Elihu states, "For thou saidst," he made this entire statement a lie, for that is exactly what it is. This comes from Job 21:15, Job said "the wicked said that ...." Job declared himself righteous, and not wicked, it was Elihu that declared that Job was wicked, not God. Elihu took two different statements and twisted both of them into a believable lie, for anyone that is asleep in his studies.

Job 35:4 "I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee."

So now Elihu is going to tell us what the straight story is, by his use of these two lies that he has just created. The only foundation that Elihu has laid thus far is built on sand and with the first wave of truth it will all be washed away. Now after making these statements to Job and his three companions, Elihu is again going to use a few true facts to make you believe his lies that have been stated thus far. Can you tell the difference between these statement whether they are true or untrue? God's truths are written in God's Word and the Elect of God know the truth.

Job 35:5 "Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are highter than thou."

This is a true statement, you can see the majesty of God written in the heavens, and though the clouds.

Job 35:6 "If thou sinnest, what doest thou against Him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto Him?"

Elihu is asking Job, how can you hurt God by your sinning? The assumption that Elihu has already made was that Job had sinned. However from the first chapter it was established that Job was a righteous man, so this is a true statement, but with a false assumption.

Stop and think for a moment, What does it do to our Heavenly Father when we sin? God loves you and He cares for you, and even though Elihu states that you can't hurt God, but it still hurts Him to see you sinning. You are precious to him, and yet this man is saying that it doesn't hurt God when you sin.

Job 35:7 "If thou be righteous, what givest thou Him? or what receiveth He of thine hand?"

Then Elihu take the other side and states, if you were righteous, what difference does it matter to God? Elihu assumes that it makes no difference to God, and many would read this and think that it is a true statement, however, it does make a difference to God. You as one of God's elect know better than to believe such a false statement.

Job 35:8 "Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man."

What Elihu is saying here is all you can do in the flesh body is help or hinder man, you can't have any affect on God. What a stupid statement for a so-called spokesman of God. When Jesus went out and looked upon Jerusalem before his crucifixion, He loved the people so much that he wept for them. He knew how they rejected him, and what they were going to do to Him, but He wept for their blindness to the Father. Do you think that it doesn't affect Father when you sin? When you go out of your way to help a lost soul and lead him or her to the ways of righteousness, do you think that God and the angels don't rejoice? That is what this man Elihu is saying.

Jesus said; Luke 15:10 "Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

When a minister comes to you with statement filled with many words, and those words do not go along with what God's Word states, he is like Elihu. For even in God's Word we are forewarned of false teachers.

II Corinthians 11:4 "For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."

Paul was concerned in this warning to the church that one such as Elihu would come into their midst, with many facts that sounded real good, with a spirit of another god and another gospel other than the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Job 35:9 "By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty."

Elihu is saying; it is only the men on the earth that causes people to suffer. God doesn't cause you to suffer, it is just those people around you. This is true in many aspects, you bring your own pain on yourself. However, this is not how it was in Job's case for it was Satan that brought the problems on Job. Those troubles that you have today had better be watched closely, for Satan can talk you into things and make right seem wrong, even to the elect. If you put Satan out of your mind you are only kidding yourself. Satan's way out is the easy way out, when we get a little lazy in focusing on God's way.

Job 35:10 "But none saith, `Where is God my Maker, Who giveth songs in the night; "

The three men never called attention that it is God that makes us happy in the night.

Job 35:11 "Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven.' "

This again is a true statement, for the mind of man far exceeds the mental capacity of any dumb beast.

Job 35:12 "There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men."

Elihu is saying that it doesn't hurt God when men bring trouble upon themselves. Again Elihu has left out Satan and even though Elihu is saying that man should not blame God, he is overlooking the trouble that Satan brings on man. Satan was made very real in Job 1:7, and Job 2:1, 2. Satan was standing in person in the sight of God and all the angels, and he will be just as real in your life today if you allow him to take over your life. Satan has a lot of good bargains to sell you, if you sell yourself cheep. Though they have a cheep price, that all come with heavy losses.

Job 35:13 "Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it."

Vanity means empty words; Elihu is calling Job's words empty and without substance.

Job 35:14 "Although thou sayest thou shalt not see Him, yet judgment is before Him; therefore trust thou in Him."

Sometimes there will be men like Elihu in your life, and rather than have God get rid of them, God wants you to use the power and authority that he has given to you to get the job done. Our power is in the name of Jesus Christ, and God wants His elect to get used to using that authority. Why should God drive Satan out of your life, when you are too lazy to do it for yourself. He gave you that authority for the purpose of showing your faith, and building that character within you, and He expects you to exercise it.

If you turn your frustrations and lack of faith on your friends, they are all going to leave you, for they don't like to be beat on. When you see that Satan is messing around with you and your loved one, take the power of Jesus name and order Satan out of your life. If you are one of God's elect, you have a destiny, but if they are not, don't get hard on them.

Job 35:15 "But now, because it is not so, He hath visited in His anger; yet He knoweth it not in great extremity:"

This is all messed up in the translation but the Hebrew text makes it a lot clearer. "His anger has not come to destroy those that are picking on you, God does not recognize great stupidity." God will not recognize Elihu's stupidity either, nor his lies.

Job 35:16 "Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge."

Can see what Elihu is calling Job? Elihu is telling Job that he is a liar, and suffering under a complex of many words that just doesn't make sense. We have made a complete circle here, back to the three friends of Job. All along they were accusing Job of wickedness simply because of his trouble. Now Elihu has done the same thing, take Job's words and twisting them to conform to the lies that he is telling. Why? To fit the message that he is giving. This is commonly done in politics, among friends, and even from behind the pulpit at your church house? With friends like Job's and this young man Elihu, you don't need enemies.

God is giving us these examples for our own protection, and He wants you to mature in His Word to keep you from being deceived. The things that are said, and the accusations that we will face as one of God's elect will come about in the same fashion as we have witnessed to this point in the book of Job. The point to this chapter is, watch out who you take your advice from, and when they state facts, make sure the facts are concrete, and not twisted to fit their lies and false impressions. Be aware of the experts that use men's wisdom to solve your problem, and set God's Word aside.
