Chapter 30

"Job's sorrowful description of his present misery."

Job 30:1 "But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock."

Job is telling these three so-called friends, some of the younger men that mock me and have given me trouble are not fit to sit with the dogs that led my sheep. Remember that we are to use this as a parable, there are people teaching the flock and leading the sheep that are not fit to sit with the dogs that watch the sheep. False teachers do not know God's Word, nor do they have the power or right to call themselves teachers. God did not call them into teaching, yet they claim that God did. So we see exactly what Job is speaking of here.

Job 30:2 "Yea, whereto might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom old age was perished?"

Even though they might be young and have strong arms, but of what good are their strong arms if their vigor is wasted away. What is this saying? Job is saying, what good is a strong man if he is lazy and refuses to do the work. I don't care if they had strong bodies, I simply couldn't use them. I wouldn't even let them run with my dogs.

Job 30:3 "For want and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste."

For a lack of wisdom they stumble in darkness. These young men were not stable in their ways, but were like nomads in the wilderness. Desolate in their knowledge of the right ways of the past. These "young" of today are all those that are to lazy to study God's word, and will not follow its instruction. They love to gossip, and cause trouble where ever they go, and they split the unity of a church, and refuse Christ's teachings.

Job 30:4 "Who cut up mallows by the bushes, and juniper roots for their meat."

Job is saying that they were like scavengers off the land, they took what ever they wanted to. They pluck among the bushes bitter herbs, and make the roots of Juniper their food.

Job 30:5 "They were driven forth from among men, (They cried after them as after a thief;"

This type of young men (women) were driven out of society because of their continual crying. Look around you today, most people refuse to face a problem head on, but would rather sit and cry over it, like those young ones Job is referring to.

Job 30:6 "To dwell in the cliffs of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks."

They seek to live in the hidden parts of the earth, the caves and amongst the rocks.

Job 30:7 "Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together."

The "nettles" spoken of here were very high, to where they could even hide a man on horseback. What this is saying is that these youth would gather as a mob for their protection and support and stay in the hidden places, where ever they felt safe.

Job 30:8 "They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth."

These youth were expelled from the land and driven into the wilderness. "Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly." Proverbs 13:16

Job 30:9 "And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword."

Job says; and now that all these things have happened to me, this group of youth that I wouldn't even let run with my dogs before, have me their target. My very name is their byword. They have taken all the things that I held important and righteous, and they are using it as a sham for their byword [a curse word].

Job 30:10 "They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face."

They even shrink away from me, like they are too good for me, and they don't mind spitting in my face.

Job 30:11 "Because He hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have so let loose the bridle before me."

This "cord" is the string or cord on his bow. Job is saying that with all his afflictions he is sitting with, he sits with these boils as a defenseless old man. When these young wild ones killed his sons, they took Job's defenses away from him. Friend, don't get drug into that trap. Did God loose His bow strings, and make him defenseless? Of course not, Satan is the one that caused Job's sons to die and the problems to come over Job. Satan was the one that was the cause of all of Job's troubles, and Job still hasn't figured it out yet. Just because the Word says it in this parable, don't allow it to deceive you in your mind. Stay fixed on the subject at hand, and that was Job's big problem, he did not think and stay focused as he should.

Job 30:12 "Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction."

In other words, these troublemakers came up on my right flank and they pushed their ideas in the way that led them to their deeds of destruction.

Job 30:13 "They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper."

They came in unhindered as they tore down my defense. They don't need helpers, for there is no one to speak up against them. It is as if there is no end to their ways. This is the very way the Satan and his children the Kenites work. They keep pushing until someone makes a stand and brings their deeds to light, but when no one makes a stand, in time all the defenses are torn down and there is no defense against them. That is as it is today, as the sodomites are coming out of their closets, taking over power positions, changing the laws to protect themselves, and in time you will be a law-breaker and scorned at for stating God's warning against them.

You get it? If you don't fight it and make a stand when you can, you become part of it. That is what happened when these youth killed Job's family and took all his wealth. Everyone sat back and did nothing. In time even Job's friends turned on him and accepted the humanistic side of Job's attackers. The three ways they are now attacking Job is by human experience, by human tradition, and human merit.

Job 30:14 "They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me."

This is speaking of a great dike that is holding the waters back, and the rushing forth of these youth are like the swift waters that burst forth when there is a break in the dike. The "land of desolation" that is left behind after these waters have flown over it is complete. When these youth moved over me, they left me in complete desolation. Job is saying that that is the way that these youth are doing to me with their insults.

Job 30:15 "Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud."

Job is saying that my very hope vanishes away like a cloud in the sky. This has to be the very lowest point that Job has reached in this entire book, for he is now turning the blame on the youth, and not just those three men that sat before him accusing him.

Beloved, you are going to have times in your life when things just don't go your way. The more you try, the deeper it seems that you fall behind. In those times you will blame everything and everybody around you. The point to remember here is Job has lost the focus on the one that has unstrung his bow of defense. That evil one is Satan, and when the trouble started Job did not focus in on the cause of the problem, for Satan is our enemy.

Job 30:16 "And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me."

Job is calling attention to the problems affliction and misery of every day life.

Job 30:17 "My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest."

I can feel the throbbing in my bones of my hurt all the night long. Even my sinews and vains feel the pain that is going through me all the time. Day or night, all the time Job is living with this deep pain.

Job 30:18 "By the great force of my disease is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat."

What this is saying in the Hebrew text is that, because of my disease, even my coat and garments have lost their shape. Job looked terrible in his clothes for he had lost so much weight that he became disfigured.

Job 30:19 "He hath cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes."

The "He" that Job is blaming for all these terrible things is God. Job still has not figured out that Satan is the one that is causing all his troubles. Did God bring all these things on Job? Don't get caught up thinking God did it, just because it is written here; for we know that God did not. This was established in the first three chapters of the book of Job.

Job 30:20 "I cry unto Thee, and Thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and Thou regardest me not."

Job is saying, God you don't listen to me, you don't hear me. Job is blaming God for not paying attention to all those righteous thing that he did before this trouble started. You see, God wasn't the one that was doing this to Job.

Job 30:21 "Thou art become cruel to me: with Thy strong hand Thou opposest thyself against me."

Stop and think of the great laughter that Satan is having by this time. Remember when God told Satan, "What do you think of My righteous man Job?" "Isn't Job something special?" Our Father was so proud of Job, that he was going to let Satan test Job to prove what a righteous man that Job was. However, Satan told God, "You lift your wall of protection that you have around him, and Job will curse you to your face." So God lifted His wall of protection, with the only condition, that Satan would not take Job's life.

Satan had his way with Job, he took Job's wife and family, and stripped Job of all his wealth. Than Satan brought boils upon Job's body that covered him from head to toe. This elect of God, the one that God was so proud of, now has all but turned on God and blamed God for all his problems.

Stop and think my friend, when the going gets a little rough, and you seem to be down and out, just who do you blame for the condition that you are in. What do you think God is saying about you? Is He proud of his servant down there on earth, or is he ashamed of your words and actions. Who are you pinning the blame on when things don't go right? Are you asking God why He doesn't hear your prayers, or are you cleansing your life, and taking the authority that God has given to you, and ordering Satan out of your life? God won't answer you if you don't take the authority that Christ has given to you through His Word and His promises. You are the one that must ask and exercise your rights at the throne of God.

Don't be like Job was, as he stood in all his troubles, but know that God is proud of you as you take control of your life.

Job 30:22 "Thou liftest me up to the wind; Thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance."

The Hebrew text is saying; I am just like the chaft that is blowing in the wind.

Job 30:23 "For I know that Thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living."

"House appointed for all living", is directed to the point of death in a "mortal men life".

Job 30:24 "Howbeit He will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction."

This verse is so polluted in the translation that it is difficult to get the meaning from the Hebrew. However what it is saying; Even a begger at the point of death has a right to hold his hand up and cry out for help.

Job 30:25 "Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor?"

When those poor beggers held their hand out for help, I helped them and the poor. If they had the right for help, why don't I have the same right for help that they have?

Job 30:26 "When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness."

Job is telling God that when the begger held his hand out, I gave him help, and now that I need help, all that I get is darkness.

Job 30:27 "My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me."

Job was in great pain continually.

Job 30:28 "I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation."

When Job stood up in the congregation after the loss of his family, his wealth, and the boils came, there wasn't one in the congregation that would come forth to comfort me. Not one. How many would come out of your congregation?

Job 30:29 "I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls."

In this parable you can go into many direction with this verse. Dragons in the Hebrew is jackals or laughing hyenas.

Job 30:30 "My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat."

Job is saying that his skin is peeled off, and my body is burned with the heat of the day.

Job 30:31 "My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep."

Job doesn't have anything to be happy about. The very things that were used to make happiness are now the things that are causing Job's sadness by his remembrances of them. This is a low point in Job's life. Job was a righteous man, and he did everything that God expected of him. In Job's goodness God was proud of him, and allowed Job to be tested by Satan. God expected Job to stand strong on his own two feet when the time of testing came, however, Job did not have the insight to see where the testing was coming from; that it was directed by Satan. Do you know the difference between the correction of God and the destruction caused by Satan? Do you know who the Kenites are, and that there are two Messiah's coming, and do you know the difference? Are you letting the Kenites maul you in your life without taking the proper steps of prevention in your daily life? We are living within Satan's system, but we must be wiser than the serpent in our daily life.The problem with most people is that think they know the serpent, Satan, and they want to fight him; only they think they can grab him by the tail and subdue him. Before their battle is over, Satan will beat them into the ground.
