Jeremiah Chapter 45Revelation 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
John 15:26
But when the Comforter is
come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which
proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John
16:13-14
[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he
will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever
he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. [14] He
shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto
you.

Without the leading by the Holy Spirit, there is no understanding of the truths, for all the truth of the Scriptures are revealed to us by God's Spirit.
Now here is our revised study ofJeremiah Chapter 45
"Yehovah's Word to Baruch."
Jeremiah 45 is addressed to Baruch, and the name Baruch means "blessings" in the Hebrew tongue. This is a personal message from God to Baruch. For the past twenty five years Baruch has had a tough time, as he wrote and delivered many of the messages that God gave to Jeremiah. Being the messenger of bad news caused him more trouble then a person is expected to bear, however God is addressing this matter.
When the king tore up the book of Jeremiah, and burned it, Baruch had to rewrite the entire book and take care of it. Baruch was very loyal to Jeremiah, and as history records, when Jeremiah arrived in Ireland, he still had this old scribe friend named Baruch. Though the Irish spell the name a little different, it is the same person. Baruch was the grandson of the governor of Jerusalem under the reign of king Josiah, and the brother of Seraiah, the Chief Chamberlain.
God is going to pay special attention to Baruch, and it is good to give special attention to those in the background of ministry, that are the ones that make it a success.
Jeremiah 45:1 "The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,"
This praise of Baruch was written a number of years back from where they are in Egypt at this time, but it is just as valuable.
Jeremiah 45:2 "Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch;"
God is singling out Baruch, with a special message.
Jeremiah 45:3 "Thou didst say, `Woe is me now! for the Lord hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.' "
This was written in a time when Jeremiah was being called a liar, bad mouthed by every false prophet in the land, and at a time when the king had destroyed all the works of his hand. Baruch was at a very point in his life. He was starting to count it a drudge in his life for the extra effort it took to follow God. Have you ever felt sorry for yourself while serving God?
Maybe you thought you were something important in the eternal plan of God's Word, and then one day you woke up to find that it was a privilege to serve Him, and if you weren't there, God would have hundreds to take your place.
Jeremiah 45:4 "Thus shalt thou say unto him, `The Lord saith thus; `Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land."
God is telling Baruch that if I want to make something out of some body or some place, that is up to Me, and if I want to tare down someone, or an entire land that is also up to Me.
Jeremiah 45:5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.' "
God is asking Baruch, are you seeking great things for yourself? Are you looking for some big name for yourself? or what is your purpose in that ministry? Baruch wanted to be as well known as Jeremiah, but God is telling him, though I bring down the land, and destroy the flesh of the land, I will give you your freedom in the end. You will not be captive, but a free man, and that is all I am promising you.
My fellow Christian, that is everything. To be free and have eternal life. It is a pleasure to serve God, and a privilege to be in His service. He is the creator of all things, and even our very souls. When that becomes a drudge, then it is time to get out, for God knows it is not of your own free will then. Don't expect big things in return, but just consider that the service itself is its own reward, for the rewards will come later.
