Jeremiah Chapter 43
Caution to students of God's Word - Please remember two things when using our studies: #1. Our commentary is not God's Word. It is only our interpretation or understanding of "His Word" and even though we try our best to be accurate we may or may not be correct. #2. The King James translation, or any other translation, of the original Hebrew text has some words which were given different translations at different places probably because of the interpreters preconceived ideas of what they think God meant to say. For example: According to the notes in the "Dake's Annotated Reference Bible" the Hebrew word hayah in the KJV is Trans. (became) 67 times, (becamest or came to pass) 505 times, (become) 66 times, and (come to pass) 131 times, but for some reason in Genesis 1:2 it is translated (was)! That sure changes the way a person perceives the original creation of the earth, doesn't it?  Gen. 1:2 And the earth was (became) without form, ... Having said that, let us continue with our "studies". These studies contain knowledge, we believe, you must have to fully and accurately unlock and understand the Word of God.

Revelation 2:17  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

John 15:26
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

John 16:13-14
[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. [14] He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Without the leading by the Holy Spirit, there is no understanding of the truths, for all the truth of the Scriptures are revealed to us by God's Spirit.

Now here is our revised study of

Jeremiah Chapter 43

"Intension Carried out under Johanan in Egypt."

This chart is a copy of the Royal Blood line of the House of David (Throne) located in the British Museum. Click here for an additional chart: The Everlasting Throne

For Twenty three years Jeremiah faithfully warned the people of the house of Judah that they would go into captivity, for it was God's Word, and he and his household and those of the royal family followed God's instructions and went to Babylon. Daniel was part of that royal household, and was treated well in Babylon.

Nebuchadnezzar appointed Zedekiah to be king back in Babylon, to oversee the affairs of the people of Judah and Jerusalem. During this time King Zedekiah refused to listen to God's instructions that the rest of the people would also go into captivity, so get ready to go to Babylon, buy your homes, plant your vineyards, and live a good life. God told them that the Jews would be in Babylon for seventy years. However, the false prophets spread their lies, and branded Jeremiah a liar.

Nebuchadnezzar came with his Babylonian army, and the city was sacked and burned to the ground. Even the temple and the walls were torn down. Everything of value was hauled off to Babylon, however there were many poor that were left behind outside Jerusalem, for Jerusalem lay in ruin and disease. Nebuchadnezzar set up a government for the few left behind and placed Gehaliah as governor of the few poor that were left behind. The new government was a Mizpah, a few miles out of Jerusalem.

Then many deserters from that final  seige came out of the forests and countryside, they came to Mizpah, and ten of these renegades lead by Ishmael came to Mizpah under a flag of peace and killed Gehaliah. They took the people and fled to the Ammorites. While on the way, Johanan and the men that were left behind heard of the evil that Ishmael had done and went after them. Johanan and his forces overtook Ishmael and his group by the waters at Gibeon, and included within that group was Jeremiah and Baruch, as well as the king's daughters.

Once the people were freed by Johanan, they sought Jeremiah's advice as to what God would have them do and Jeremiah told them to return to their homes and live. They took council amongst themselves and determined that Jeremiah was lying to them and that Baruch, his scribe was the one putting these ideas into Jeremiah's mind. This is the point where Jeremiah 43 begins.

Jeremiah 43:1 "And it came to pass, that when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking unto all the People all the words of the Lord their God, for which the Lord their God had sent him to them, even all these words,"

So Jeremiah has finished delivering the message that God gave him to speak, and what do you think these people are going to say? Do you think Jeremiah was wrong and that these people would repent?

Jeremiah 43:2 "Then spake Azariah the son of Hoshaiah, and Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the proud men, saying unto Jeremiah, "Thou speakest falsely: the Lord our God hath not sent thee to say, `Go not into Egypt to sojourn there:"

From the champion of the people, Johanan on down, they all told Jeremiah that he was not telling the truth to them. They were calling Jeremiah a liar.

Jeremiah 43:3 "But Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon."

Baruch was the scribe for Jeremiah, the one that did all the writing of what Jeremiah had to say from God. So they not only accused Jeremiah, but they also accused Baruch of trying to manipulate Jeremiah into delivering the people into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar. This is what they should have done, but even after the destruction of Jerusalem, they still did not get the word from God, that they would be killed or captive.

Johanan lived through the warnings of God through Jeremiah, and he saw that Jeremiah's warnings were right on target, yet he like the others are still fixed on believing that they can get God's judgment on them and are wanting to run away from it.

Jeremiah 43:4 "So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the People, obeyed not the voice of the Lord, to dwell in the land of Judah."

All the People obeyed not the Word of the Lord. The lesson that we should learn from this comes from experience. When you put the fear of being over-run in the minds of people who are not disciplined in what they should do, they will panic. The more the rumor spreads around the camp, the more fear enters the hearts of the people to where they become little more than a mob. Rumors will escalate in the minds to where they will imagine even the little kids being slaughtered, and all will die here.

If God's plan doesn't speak of those hostile actions, then it shall not come to pass. Christian, when that time comes when Satan is walking on the earth as the false-christ, don't listen to the mob, and what the false prophets have to say. The acts and words of the mob are always wrong.  When it comes down to it, the masses of people that are swayed by rumors and the false prophets [press] will always make the wrong choices with regards to God's plan. They do that because they are biblically illiterate. They simply don't understand the plan of God, and that includes the leaders of most church denominations. Don't listen to the majority and let them stir you up.

Jeremiah 43:5 "But Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, took all the remnant of Judah, that were returned from all nations, whether they had been driven, to dwell in the land of Judah;"

Jeremiah 43:6 "Even men, and women, and children, and the king's daughters, and every person that Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard had left with Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Jeremiah the prophet, and Baruch the son of Neriah."

These "king's daughters" are the daughters of king Zedekiah that had his eyes put out, and was taken to Babylon in chains. The sons of Zedekiah were all killed by the Babylonian army and only his daughters were allowed to live. These daughters are the ones that Jeremiah would take to Europe, and in time be married into the king lines of Spain, and Ireland. This will be discussed in detail later, however, the charts of the king lines of all Europe will trace through these daughters of Zedekiah that Jeremiah will oversee, and they are listed after Jeremiah 33:22 in our studies of Jeremiah chapter 33.

Johanan and the captains and their forces had rounded up every living soul that the Babylonians had left behind including Jeremiah and Baruch, and they were forcing all people to make the move with them. This champion of the people, after running Ishmael off, has now turned out to be the driving negative forces against God Word.

It doesn't matter how much a person may seem to be a great preacher, or teacher, or that he may have been 98 percent correct in the flesh. If that person does not lead properly in the Spirit of God, he is not fit to lead and you had better watch out. They will claim to be very spiritual, and in tune with our heavenly Father, but when the Word of the Lord comes to direct them, they will close their mind and chase after their own imaginations. They appear to be solid in the community, and a leader among the flock, but when it comes down to the critical time of testing their traditions, they sre fakes, and listens to their own imaginations.

These people knew that Judaea had been hit three times before, and stripped of all it's wealth, and the temptation was to head down to the Nile, where the things are fertile and prosperous. The urge is to go where the promises are greater from the word of man, but you had better get used to listening only to the Word of God, and how His Spirit leads you.

Jeremiah 43:7 "So they came into the land of Egypt: for they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: thus came they even to Tahpanhes."

By secular writings we know that the daughters of Zedekiah were treated well in Egypt. In the Babylonian empire Jeremiah was an honored person for his position and voice from God that Jeremiah spoke. Jeremiah was also well known, even in Egypt. Jeremiah was free to go wherever he chose, however it was not so with the others. So against Nebuchadnezzar's orders, Jeremiah is now a captive of Johanan in Egypt.

While in Egypt, the Pharaoh constructed a building in honor of these daughters of Zedekiah at Taphanhes, and archaeologists have dug up the building that has the honor still inscribed on it. This place in southern Egypt still exists today.

Jeremiah 43:8 "Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah in Tahpanhes, saying,"

Jeremiah 43:9 "Take great stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh's house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;"

If you know the type of person that the Pharaoh was, you know that the Pharaoh would not allow a brick kiln right at his front door. You should know that the translation is lost a little here. What it should read is that "clay in the brick street" because the street was paved with brick. God is telling Jeremiah to go and pick up one of those bricks out on the street, and put his Word underneath that brick.

Jeremiah 43:10 "And say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these stones that I have hid; and he shall spread his royal pavilion over them."

God is telling Jeremiah to let it be known that Nebuchadnezzar, God's servant, is going to be king even over Egypt. He will rule over the stones even in the front of Pharaoh's house. You will not find this recorded in Egyptian history, and there is a reason why. The Assyrians have recorded Nebuchadnezzar's conquest in detail, but not the Egyptians. It is also recorded in Josephas, "Antiquity of the Jews", [chapter X, verses 9,10], and the battle in Egypt took place approximately five years after the city of Jerusalem fell.

Jeremiah 43:11 "And when he cometh, he shall smite the land of Egypt, and deliver such as are for death to death; and such as are for captivity to captivity; and such as are for the sword to the sword."

In other words, God is going to free those that listened to Him, and kill those that defiled him, and He will give Egypt into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar to complete the take. Those that were taken prisoner without a choice will be freed. God will keep His word with those defiant ones that called Jeremiah a liar.

Jeremiah 43:12 "And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace."

Nebuchadnezzar was God's servant, even in the destruction of Egypt. Satan, the coming king of Babylon, of our generation, is also actually a servant of God; That means that God will allow him to do what he wants to do, so as to chastise the people of God who refuse to listen to God's Word.

Even today and at the coming of Satan, the king of Babylon of the book of Revelation, God wants to know if you are going to listen to him, or to the babblers and false prophets. Are you going to prepare yourself to make a stand in His Holy Word, or are you going to follow some modern day Johanan who is champion of the people who will cause your spiritual death. My fellow Christian, this is why there will be a great tribulation of deception in our day, to see how sincere you are with Him. God wants to know what you would choose with your free will. If you even know the difference between the true Messiah, Jesus Christ and the fake, Satan, the false christ.

He wants to know if you have taken the time to study His Word to know the warning He has given us, or whether you are Biblically illiterate and really don't care about His Word. Those that are Biblically illiterate will be caught up in the wonders of deception of the world, and the fake Jesus, and they will fall in the apostasy. Then when the true Christ comes they will be too ashamed to even face him for their words and deeds.

Jeremiah 43:13 "He shall break also the images of Beth-she'mesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire."

We know that "Beth" means "house" in the Hebrew tongue. "Bethshemesh" then is the "houses of the gods of the Sun". This is referring to the temples of the Egyptian gods, called in the Greek tongue "Heliopolis" and in the Egyptian, "On". This place is about ten miles north-east of Cairo. This place is a very religious place, yet it never gets around to looking for the only true God. This is not speaking against a race or nation, but even today it is about people in general that seek their own religious forms, and reject God's truth as it is written.

God's truth will be taught around the World when God's elect are delivered up, and the Holy Spirit of God speaks through them in that day. That day has not come yet, and it will not come until Satan, the king of Babylon of the Book of Revelation, which is the synagogue of Satan, is on the earth ruling over his one world government. That is the time that every soul on earth will have heard of the gospel of Christ.

Remember that each of these chapters of Jeremiah records another item that is a type of what shall happen in our generation. It is to help us understand what God would have us do after the king of Babylon appear, and in the futuristic sense after the false-christ is on the earth. You are without excuse, if you do not take the time to become familiar with what God would have you do, but rather choose to follow what some religious leaders and champions of man's religious thought would have us do.

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.  We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
