Genesis Chapter 19Revelation 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
John 15:26
But when the Comforter is
come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which
proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John
16:13-14
[13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he
will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever
he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. [14] He
shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto
you.

Without the leading by the Holy Spirit, there is no understanding of the truths, for all the truth of the Scriptures are revealed to us by God's Spirit.
Now here is our revised study of:
Genesis Chapter 19
"Lot and the Angels."
Genesis 19:1 "And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground."
These are the two angels [men] that left God and Abraham talking in the plain of Mamre [Oaks], and went on ahead to Sodom to carry out their mission. When the angels came into Sodom, Lot was sitting in the seat of the gate. That seat at the gate, was the judgment seat, and showed that Lot was a man of high respect, and a citizen of Sodom. Considering the character of all the people of Sodom, I wonder what kind of judge he was?
Genesis 19:2 "And he said, "Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways." And they said, "Nay; but we will abide in the street all night."
You can almost hear Lot say, you don't want to stick around this place. Lot knew the danger of anyone being in the streets after dark. Lot had tried the cases of the events of those filthy people of Sodomy, and Lot knew it wasn't safe. This also shows how foolish Lot was, when he tried to protect one of God's angels; because each of God's angels can destroy any of mankind that would offer a threat to them.
Genesis 19:3 "And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat."
Again, these angels can sustain themselves on man's food, just as man can sustain himself on the manna of angel's food, just as the Israelites did that for forty years. Thus we can see the kinship of God, His angels and mankind. This is not trying to degrade God, However it is to get us to feel the kinship that we have to God. To understand this relationship between each of us and the Heavenly Father, will bring us to talk to Him in prayer.
Genesis 19:4 "But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:"
Sodomy will corrupt people of all ages, it is of Satan, and the perversion of sodomy so corrupts the mind that it causes perversion and violence of all sorts. In Sodom, the entire town had become corrupt, even the children.
Genesis 19:5 "And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, "Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them."
These immoral men had no sense of respect even for strangers. Now we can see just how wicked it was. God knew the degree of filth and wickedness this place was, when He was talking with Abraham, and making the promises in the 18th. chapter. This was the reason that they went there in the first place.
Genesis 19:6 "And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,"
Lot wanted to protect the two men, and didn't want the perverted Sodomites dragging them out.
Genesis 19:7 "And said, "I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly."
Understand, Lot was a judge.
Genesis 19:8 "Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof."
It's hard to understand how Lot could make such an offer with his own two daughters, however, this may be an indication of the mind-set that Lot and his family had sunk, when surrounded with such filth for so long. Let's face it, amongst the Sodomites, there is no honor, only degradation. There simply was no form of honor left in Sodom, except in the mind of Lot.
Genesis 19:9 "And they said, "Stand back." And they said again, "This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them." And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door."
Never put yourself in a position where you are surrounded by perverted men, where you can't equalize their perversion with some form of equalizer. The Sodomite perversion is blind to all forms of honor and respect. The result of this filthy mind will allow actions to fall far below the level of the animal kingdom. Sodomy is demonic. Our equalizer is the Lord God, and His power.
Genesis 19:10 "But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door."
These angels can see Lot is getting in deeper than he can handle. They can handle any problem that man can create. They pulled Lot back inside.
Genesis 19:11 "And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door."
These perverts were blinded by the angelic power and glow of these angels, that they were dumbfounded when the angels used the power of God to subdue them.
Genesis 19:12 "And the men said unto Lot, "Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:"
Because of God's love for Lot, they are going to try to dig up ten righteous men, to save the city, and protect Lot. These angels are even going to count Lot's family, to reach the ten count, for Abraham's sake.
Genesis 19:13 "For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the Lord; and the Lord hath sent us to destroy it."
God knew there would not be even ten righteous people.
Genesis 19:14 "And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, "Up, get you out of this place; for the Lord will destroy this city." But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law."
When Lot spoke to his sons in law, they were also perverted, and the mocked, or looked at Lot as if he was talking nonsense. Remember, it was Lot that chose to come to Sodom, and was even popular enough with these perverts to become their judge, so is it no wonder they thought he was talking nonsense, when Lot began talking of the things of God. This is a good lesson for us today, for when the evil and wicked minds try to reason with God's people, they simply do not have the ability to think of anything except how it will promote there lifestyle, and and make available others to fulfill their perversions.
Lot told his sons in law that God would destroy the city, and they would not believe it. God also told us in His Word that it would be the same in the latter days, and we can see this prophecy coming to pass, with the same reaction that Lot saw. In fact, even in many churches today, people have grown so ignorant of God's Word that they even accept the perverts into their congregations.
Let it be a warning to those that compromise with the perverts, God doesn't suffer fools, or their perversion. The time is short, and the results will be total. God hates sodomy. In fact, when Jesus was asked about it by the Kenites, all He responded was; "Remember Lot's wife." [Luke 17:32]
Genesis 19:15 "And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, "Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city."
The angels tried to speed up Lot and his family; they told Lot that they are about to destroy the city, and for them to get a move on, or they would be destroyed also.
Genesis 19:16 "And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city."
This was because of God's love for Abraham, and also because Lot was a fair man, so the angels did not want anything to happen to Lot.
Genesis 19:17 "And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that He said, "Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed."
God takes care of His own, and God will take care of His Elect. Many today worry about having to live through God's tribulation, However, you don't have to worry about it anyway, for if you don't become involved with the Antichrist and his system, God will take care of you. It doesn't matter if you are even in the middle of it, you will be given a way to escape by the Heavenly Father.
Genesis 19:18 "And Lot said unto them, "Oh, not so, my Lord:"
Genesis 19:19 "Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and Thou hast magnified Thy mercy, which Thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:"
Lot is now afraid to leave the city of Sodom for the country, to escape with his life, for he is afraid of the unknown out in the wilderness. Sodom is about to be destroyed, and Lot still can't get it through his mind that there will be no more Sodom. We have the warnings of the prophets, and apostles, and Jesus Christ Himself of the coming tribulation, yet, the church world still wants to hang on to their fairy tales, and false doctrine, such as the Rapture theory, instead of preparing themselves for the total onslaught of deception that the Antichrist will bring upon the earth.
Genesis 19:20 "Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live."
If God tells you to go somewhere, go and don't worry about it; for with the order comes His protection. If God gives you a way out, such as He gave Lot, don't stand around until it is too late.
Genesis 19:21 "And He said unto him, "See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken."
Genesis 19:22 "Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither." Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar."
The angels were going to blow Sodom off the map, However, they would not do it until Lot had left for safety. "Zoar" in the Hebrew text is "little".
Genesis 19:23 "The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar."
Genesis 19:24 "Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven:"
This was not an atomic blast out of heaven, and there will not be a nuclear holocaust in this age, or any age. God created this earth to be inhabited, and fire and brimstone will not hurt those people that love God, because He will protect them. Those people in places that have sinned greatly against God, will be judged, and dealt with by God, and He will not hurt the environment. Down through the course of History, many civilizations were totally destroyed because of their sins against God and pagan worship, but God will take care of His own.
Genesis 19:25 "And He overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground."
God cleansed the ground, and eliminated the Sodomites and those of the surrounding towns committing the same practices.
Genesis 19:26 "But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt."
Remember, the angels said that Lot and his family should not look back, but make haste out of the area. It appears that Lot's wife had found the lifestyle of the Sodomites of interest to her, and the one last look claimed her life. Lot was moving to a place where the activity was not so wild, and Lot's wife had grown close to her Sodomite friends.
Editor's Note: She also still had daughters in Sodom.
Isn't it troubling how a Sodomite can tell you of the "love of God", and how much they care about their fellow man, yet, completely overlook the hatred God has for the sin of Sodomy? God does not like this form of perversion in any degree. However, if it is possible for the Sodomite to see the sinfulness of his [her] ways and, there is forgiveness through the blood of Jesus Christ, and the repentive soul. You cannot separate the sinful activities, from the one doing the act. Isaiah addressed this as the fault of the House of Judah's downfall in Isaiah 3:9.
Isaiah 3:9 "The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves."
This sounds like a description of what is going on today, however it was the downfall of the nation of Judah. The Sodomites came out of their closets, and practiced their perversion in the open, and even "their countenance doth witness against them". God is not pleased with them, and just like Sodom was cleansed and destroyed, so also was Judah, and the destruction was brought on by themselves.
Genesis 19:27 "And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord:"
Genesis 19:28 "And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace."
Abraham knew what had happened, that Sodom had turned into a furnace.
Genesis 19:29 "And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when He overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt."
Lot was saved because of Abraham's intercessory prayer. When we study all the lessons in both the Old and New Testament, we are told in I Corinthians 10:11; "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come."
They are "ensamples" to let us know what is going to happen in the end of this age. We are living in the end times, and these perversions are becoming so common that many churches even proudly declare their support of what God hates so much. Abraham was out horse trading for the lives of these Sodomites, as we saw in the last chapter, and he risked angering God. Only God knows what Lot had to do to get in good with the Sodomites, but his judge position indicates that Lot knew what was going on in the town, yet he stayed.
It wasn't because of Lot that God saved Lot; "God remembered Abraham", and thus saved Lot.
Genesis 19:30 "And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters."
Genesis 19:31 "And the first born said unto the younger, "Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:"
The daughters felt that they were cut off from all the world.
Genesis 19:32 "Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father."
Genesis 19:33 "And they made their father drink wine that night: and the first born went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose."
Lot was drunk, and didn't know anything about it.
Genesis 19:34 "And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, "Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father."
There will be two groups of people that will come from this relationship between Lot and his two daughters.
Genesis 19:35 "And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose."
Genesis 19:36 "Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father."
Genesis 19:37 "And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day."
"Moab" in the Hebrew language means "of his father". As we study the Scripture, and end time prophecy, don't forget who these people are, for they will become a nation, and exist in end time prophecy such as in Micah 6.
Genesis 19:38 "And the younger, she bare a son, and called his name Ben-ammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day."
"Ben-ammi" in the Hebrew means son of my people., and the son of the younger daughter became the father of the Ammonites nation. These sons were born to Lot after he had left the city of Sodom, and it became destroyed.
Genealogies are important to God, and it will become important to know the different peoples as to where they came from. In the genealogy of Christ, it was important to know that the blood line was pure, for Noah's and Abraham's pedigree was pure, and free from the Kenite, or the Nephilim contamination. And to understand the good prophets from the false, it is also important to know the parentage of the one speaking. In many cases something will be said by a person with the same name as a prophet, and it will be assumed to be of God, when in fact it is not.
We should keep an eye on Abraham, for he will become the father of many nations, both of Israel, and Judah, and Gentile nations. Abraham is to be a blessing to all, and this is primarily because Jesus Christ would come from Abraham's family. Abraham's obedience and faith is an example set for us, he talked with God, and today we communicate with God through our prayers and the study of His Word. Don't let your talking to God become a ritual, but make it a personal conversation, as you would converse with a friend.
Abraham walked and talked with God, and when we call upon him in Jesus Name, He will listen to us also. You don't need a formal setting, and a ritual routine to approach our Heavenly Father, you just talk to Him like you would a close friend. God is not out to destroy you, and because of His love for you, He sent His Son to even die for you so each of us could approach Him with even our smallest problems. When the going gets tough, that is when God is at His best, for there is no problem that He can not handle.
