Pamphlet #8032 Ezekiel chapter 32

All the princes of the north, including the Syrians, the Tyrians and the Zidonians will also be deceived and "go down to the pit".

Ezekiel, a servant of God strengthened through the ingestion and digestion of His Word, was expressly sent unto his own people, those of the House of Israel, to speak unto them directly from the Word of God, in the manner of "Thus saith the Lord GOD". However, at the conclusion of chapter 29 we saw that there would also come a time when God was going to "open the mouth" of Ezekiel in the midst of Egypt and the gentile nations, and bring forth the word of His power so that all the nations "Shall know that He is the LORD".

It is written in Mark 13:11 that in the last days when this "opening of the mouth" occurs, when God's elect are delivered up, that they are not to premeditate what they are going to say. Nevertheless, it is not really a mystery concerning what the Holy Spirit will be speaking through them. For it is written in Acts chapter 2 that on Pentecost Day when the "mouths" of God's servants were "opened", which was a type, a sampling of that which would happen in these last days, that it was the "magnificent things", i.e. the "wonderful works of God", that they were speaking about. And so shall it be when God's elect are delivered up in these last days.

To that end, in the last few chapters we have been reading about some of those wondrous works, even the "last day" judgments upon Egypt and the rest of the gentile nations. It is because Pharaoh, and the leaders of those gentile nations, have played the part of the "box-cedar" (i.e. Satan) who was that exalted tree in the garden of Eden (Ezek. 31), and elevated themselves to self-greatness, and it is because of the idolatry of their multitudes, that God is going to send the king of Babylon and take captive and completely make desolate (spiritually), those leaders and their multitudes.

So in this 32nd chapter, God instructs Ezekiel to tell the sad story for the benefit of Pharaoh (symbolic of the gentile leaders) of Egypt (symbolic of all the gentile nations) and make known the why's, when's, and wherefore's of what will happen to them. Again, all this happens to the nations so that they will come to know that the Lord is GOD and that He does care about them, and He does love them, and perhaps they will "See" and turn to Him and get their acts together before the final judgment at the end of the Millennium.

The historical date of the first half of chapter 32, which is a national lamentation for Pharaoh and his multitudes, is the 1st day of the 12th month, Adar (March), which is one month from the end of the 12th year of the Captivity of Jehoiachin and about 1 1/2 years after the fall of Jerusalem. Then, two weeks later, beginning in verse 17, Ezekiel will be told to lament for the peoples of the gentile nations, for their descent into their spiritual graves.

Ezekiel 32:1
And it came to pass in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, in the first day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
[2] Son of man, take up a lamentation for Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say unto him, Thou art like a young lion of the nations, and thou art as a whale in the seas: and thou camest forth with thy rivers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and fouledst their rivers.
Ezekiel, tell this sad, sad story for Pharaoh king of Egypt:
"Pharaoh, you think you are like a strong lion, a superpower among the nations, but you are nothing more than a scampering crocodile making little bubbles and muddying up the rivers.

Therefore, the Lord GOD has declared that He is going "croc" fishing and He will spread out His net (using the king of Babylon and his army to do it) and bring you up out of the waters as a captive, a fish out of water."

[3] Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will therefore spread out my net over thee with a company of many people; and they shall bring thee up in my net.
We have learned and emphasized many times that the types and examples recorded in the Old Testament happened and are written so that we would "See", i.e. graphically visualize and understand, what will befall us (1 Cor. 10:11) in the spiritual battle of the end times, that battle in which we must wear the whole Gospel Armour (Eph. 6) to be able to withstand the fiery darts of the king of Babylon.

You see, the flesh mind can SEE a literal sword slash through the body of a man and slay him in a pool of blood and see his flesh die the first death. But the flesh mind cannot see a sword of lies and deception slash through the soul of a man and slay him whereby he dies spiritually. There are two deaths, the death of the flesh (called the 1st death) and death of the soul (called the 2nd death). The Bible is not a book primarily about the death of the flesh (the 1st death) for it is written that it is given unto everyone to die that 1st death, but after that comes the judgment when the death of one's soul (the 2nd death) can occur if he or she is cast into the lake of fire .

Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
That is why Jesus said don't worry about those who can kill your flesh. It is your soul about which you need to be concerned.

Here are His words:

Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Knowing this, and then understanding that the Holy Spirit often uses allegory and symbolism and figures of speech to make clear and simplify the things He would have His own to know and understand, then reading this 32nd chapter of Ezekiel is much like reading the Book of Revelation. The desolation brought about by the desolator, who is Satan, the king of Babylon, the false-christ, the serpent, the dragon, etc., is spiritual desolation. The final battle of the end times is not for flesh and blood, but for the souls of men and women and concerns the second death, not the first.
Ezekiel 32:4
Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee.
God is going to cast Pharaoh the Croc out into the open field where the "birds of prey" will pick him over and the "beasts of the whole earth" will devour him. Even though in the prophetic sense this speaks of the last days, Egypt and the gentile nations have literally been "picked over" pretty good by the "birds of prey", haven't they?
[5] And I will lay thy flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with thy height.
The desolation will be total, complete, as we read in previous chapters all the way from the Suez to Aswan, even to the borders of Ethiopia.
[6] I will also water with thy blood the land wherein thou swimmest, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of thee.
The bloody desolation (spiritual death) will be everywhere.
[7] And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.
God, through the king of Babylon, is going to completely put the croc's "lights" out and it will be a time of spiritual darkness and gloominess for him and his nation.
Ezekiel 32:8
All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.
Jesus Christ is the light of this world and His servants are light bearers, but even they will be removed. And without the true light, darkness is set upon the land.Remember during the Middle Ages when the prevailing church withheld the Word of God from the people to the point that in order to read the scriptures they had to obtain a license** by showing themselves approved to their confessor and to the bishops? That period of history in known as the Dark Ages because there was no light (truth).
** The translators of the original King James Bible wrote a letter to the English Reader documenting this fact. If you haven't read it (because the publishers at the request of the offended guilty parties have removed it from the Bibles) and you would like to read a copy, then log unto (Live Link to->>) "LETTER by the translators of the 1611 King James version of the Bible TO THE READER"and see for yourself.

So, it is soon judgment time for the gentile nations. Lights out everyone!

[9] I will also vex the hearts of many people, when I shall bring thy destruction among the nations, into the countries which thou hast not known.
The word "vex" means to "trouble" or "enrage", and we can certainly see the peoples of the nations in and around the Middle East being "vexed" even today. Some of those nations of today are relatively new compared to the base nation of ancient Egypt, and so they were obviously not known to Pharaoh.
[10] Yea, I will make many people amazed at thee, and their kings shall be horribly afraid for thee, when I shall brandish my sword before them; and they shall tremble at every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of thy fall.
The day of his fall is when the king of Babylon, the desolator (the abomination of desolation) spoken of by Daniel the prophet, comes wielding God's own sword, bringing deception and spiritual devastation upon the nations. Is there any doubt whatsoever that God is going to send the king of Babylon upon Egypt and the nations?
Ezekiel 32:11
For thus saith the Lord GOD; The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon thee.
No if's, and's, or but's. It is going to happen! The false Messiah WILL COME to slay the souls of men! And as it is written in the next verse, "all the multitude shall be destroyed".
[12] By the swords of the mighty will I cause thy multitude to fall, the terrible of the nations, all of them: and they shall spoil the pomp of Egypt, and all the multitude thereof shall be destroyed.
They will all be destroyed with the lies and deception of the king of Babylon, (Satan) the spurious messiah.
[13] I will destroy also all the beasts thereof from beside the great waters; neither shall the foot of man trouble them any more, nor the hoofs of beasts trouble them.
The waters [people] shall no longer be stirred up or troubled by either man or beast.
Ezekiel 32:14
Then will I make their waters deep, and cause their rivers to run like oil, saith the Lord GOD.
The word "deep" means to "subside" or "cease", and so their once powerful, overflowing Nile shall abate and be sluggish and the country shall be destitute (next verse).
[15] When I shall make the land of Egypt desolate, and the country shall be destitute of that whereof it was full, when I shall smite all them that dwell therein, then shall they know that I am the LORD.
The land of Egypt and the gentile countries too, are ALL going to fall into deception and be taken by the king of Babylon and become spiritually destitute and desolate. "Then", when Jesus Christ returns at the sound of the 7th Trump, "They shall know that He is the LORD."
Ezekiel 32:16
This is the lamentation wherewith they shall lament her: the daughters of the nations shall lament her: they shall lament for her, even for Egypt, and for all her multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
Yes, this is the sad story of the desolation of Egypt, and her multitudes by the king of Babylon. Let the symbolic of the gentile nations,"daughters" [grandchildren, even to this generation] of the nations weep and lament for her.

Thus saith the Lord GOD!

Next, we will see who has gone down to hell. Be ready to "wail", Ezekiel, for it is not a pretty sight.

The Book of EZEK-I-EL was written expressly for the watchman of this final generation, the generation when the wise would understand the visions of the prophets and God would pour out His Spirit upon them and they would begin to teach in the manner of "Thus saith the Lord" to the House of Israel, i.e. The 21st. century Christian nations of western Europe, the isles of Britain and the Americas (Acts 2:17-18).
And there is one prominent message that we have learned and read about and been instructed to say to our people, and that is that the king of Babylon IS COMING to this final generation to make desolate the souls of all those who will be slain by his lies and deception, which comprise his "spiritual" sword. So get rid of the "pollution" contained in the traditions of men and start eating the entire scroll and digesting it and put your trust ONLY in the Lord your God.

Before we complete this 32nd chapter of Ezekiel, let's take the time to understand some of the symbolism we will be reading in the remaining verses, so that we can better comprehend that which is being said.

Sword - there are two swords:

1.) The sword of the Lord, which is the two-edged sword which proceeds out of the mouth of Christ, i.e. His truth, His Word (Rev. 1:10). This sword is part of the Gospel Armor of Ephesians 6 and is carried by His elect.

2.) The sword of the king of Babylon (Satan), which is the deception and lies which proceed out of his mouth. However, God uses the king of Babylon and his lying sword to test and bring His judgment upon mankind and so He calls this sword His also, for He controls it and Satan too!

Slain by the sword
To be "slain by the sword" in these last days is to suffer "spiritual death" from being sliced to pieces by the sword (lies and deception) of the king of Babylon.

The uncircumcised
This word is used 10 times in the last 14 verses of chapter 32 and is always used in connection with shameful, ignominious death, which is to be "slain by the sword" of deception and be exposed naked on the Day of the Lord. The "uncircumcised" of the end time are Biblically illiterate, for they do not know Him because their "hearts" are uncircumcised.

Hell
The Hebrew word is "sheol" which means "THE grave" as opposed to "keber" which means a grave, i.e. a burying place.

Pit
A "bowr" in Hebrew, which is a grave dug in the earth. It therefore; shows us the true meaning of hell ["sheol"].

Land of the living
The opposite of the Land of the dead (sheol). In the last days it would be those who have eternal life and who are "sealed" with His Word, i.e. they are Biblically literate, unlike the uncircumcised.

Terror
From the Hebrew prime root "chathath" which means "confusion and fear". "Babel" means "confusion" in Hebrew, which is the "terror" that the sword of the king of Babylon will bring.

Let's begin.
Ezekiel 32:17
It came to pass also in the twelfth year, in the fifteenth day of the month, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
This is fourteen days (2 x 7) after the lamentation in verse one and two weeks before the new year.
[18] Son of man, wail for the multitude of Egypt, and cast them down, even her, and the daughters of the famous nations, unto the nether parts of the earth, with them that go down into the pit.
Ezekiel, sing a sad song for the multitude of Egypt and all the latter day "famous nations", meaning powerful, as in super-powerful nations, and proclaim them as cast down to lowermost parts of the earth with the everyone else who has descended into the pit.
[19] Whom dost thou pass in beauty? go down, and be thou laid with the uncircumcised.
What makes you think you are more special than anyone else?  "Go to hell" with all the other disgraced idolaters who never had hearts that were circumcised. (Rom. 2:29 ... circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.)
Ezekiel 32:20
They shall fall in the midst of them that are slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword: draw her and all her multitudes.
Egypt and her multitudes shall fall by the sword along with all the rest of the deceived among the nations who are "slain by the sword". Drag (draw) her and all her multitudes to their grave.
[21] The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
The mighty warriors will speak to Pharaoh when he arrives in hell with all his allies, where they lie in shame because they too were "slain by the sword". This is speaking figuratively showing that they are not alone in their spiritual death. The pit is packed full of "the slain".
[22] Asshur is there and all her company: his graves are about him: all of them slain, fallen by the sword:
The mighty Assyrian, "Asshur", and all her company have all been deceived to death.
Ezekiel 32:23
Whose graves are set in the sides of the pit, and her company is round about her grave: all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which caused terror in the land of the living.
Such a massive number of spiritually dead, deceived people is great cause for alarm among the living, and well it should be. You see, the sword of the king of Babylon will bring much terror in the land, which is confusion, which as we noted previously, is what the word "Babel" means in Hebrew.
[24] There is Elam and all her multitude round about her grave, all of them slain, fallen by the sword, which are gone down uncircumcised into the nether parts of the earth, which caused their terror in the land of the living; yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit.
The name Elam means "hidden". Elam was the sixth son of Shem, the son of Noah, and therefore an Adamite, though his children would not be in the lineage of Israel.  The majority of Elamites will also be deceived by the king of Babylon and "go to hell" in shame with the rest of the uncircumcised.
[25] They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude: her graves are round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword: though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit: he is put in the midst of them that be slain.
The multitude, the many, will be slain (deceived) by the sword of the king of Babylon and will take their shameful place in sheol with every other spiritually dead, deceived person.
Ezekiel 32:26
There is Meshech, Tubal, and all her multitude: her graves are round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though they caused their terror in the land of the living.
Among the "famous nations" of verse 18 is Meshech, the chief prince of Rosh, i.e. of Russia, and her neighbors. The majority of them will fall by the sword too!

The king of Babylon (Satan) comes when he is cast out of heaven to this earth with his angels in Rev. 12:7-9. It is written that he deceives "the whole world" with the exception of those who have the seal of God in their foreheads (Rev. 9). We are receiving some specifics here in this great Book of Ezekiel concerning those nations and people who are "slain by the sword".

Rev. 12:9
And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Yep, the majority of all peoples and nations will be deceived in this final generation, i.e. slain by the sword of the king of Babylon.
Ezekiel 32:27
And they shall not lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised, which are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones, though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
Whether they were great leaders (who receive honorable burials) or not, they will all be equal in hell.
"They are buried in a common grave, and not as the fallen lords who are buried in great honor with their weapons beside them, with their shields covering them and their swords beneath their heads. They were a terror to all while they lived." (LB)
[28] Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shalt lie with them that are slain with the sword.
"Thou" is referring to Pharaoh of Egypt, who, if you recall, really thought he was something great and allowed the children of Israel to place their trust in him (instead of God) for protection, which he failed miserably to provide. He will lie broken in the common grave midst the rest of the shameful.
Ezekiel 32:29
There is Edom, her kings, and all her princes, which with their might are laid by them that were slain by the sword: they shall lie with the uncircumcised, and with them that go down to the pit.
Oh yes, and even the land of the "red" nation (Edom means red), i.e. the Russian peoples and their kings and leaders, will fall by the sword and descend into shame with the rest of the crowd in the lowly pit.
[30] There be the princes of the north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which are gone down with the slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword, and bear their shame with them that go down to the pit.
All the princes of the north, including the Syrians, the Tyrians and the Zidonians will also be deceived and "go down to the pit". Because they have been slain by the king of Babylon (Satan), they will not be left standing in the land of the living. This is a sad story.
Ezekiel 32:31
Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, even Pharaoh and all his army slain by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
This word "comforted" does not mean to be at ease. It means to "sigh", even to "be sorry". Just imagine Pharaoh going to hell and seeing his whole nation in such a shameful state of degradation which he brought upon them in his haughtiness. Think about it.

One thing is for sure though, "he shall know that the Lord is GOD". And the Lord has these final words:

Ezekiel 32:32
For I have caused my terror in the land of the living: and he shall be laid in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that are slain with the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
We have now concluded the chapters in Ezekiel concerning the king of Babylon. There should be no doubt whatsoever to the "watchmen" of this final generation that he shall come and he shall wield his sword of deception and lies which will spiritually slay the majority of the people of all nations along with their kings and their princes. It is a sad, sad story.

But those who put their trust in Almighty God, and not man, even though that man may have the power and strength and resources of the great Pharaoh of Egypt, they shall not be slain by the sword.
They shall forever stand tall in the land of the living.

Note: Citizens of the United States, beware, if you/we continue to allow our government to rely on the United Nations as some sort of security blanket we will be no better off then ancient Israel was by depending on Egypt!

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
