Pamphlet #8012 eZEKIEL CHAPTER 12

"This is exactly what it means (and your opinion doesn't matter one iota):"

Ezekiel is about to put on another demonstration like he did in chapters four and five. This time he will be ACTING OUT the exile of his people and specifically enacting the "history in advance" of how king Zedekiah, the last king of Judah, would try to escape the judgment of the Lord God. Imagine that!...Trying to run and hide from Almighty God. You would think that to be a strange and rather unintelligent maneuver to attempt, but it seems to be a common trait among our people, the first attempt of which began in the beginning, where most things begin, believe it or not:

Genesis 3:8
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Do you remember the demonstrations that Ezekiel gave in chapters four and five concerning the siege of Jerusalem that gave us a PICTURE to SEE in our mind's eye what was about to happen? Well, this scene opens the same way, with the LORD speaking to Ezekiel and telling him the reason and the purpose for the demonstration, the play, which he is about to perform. So go grab some popcorn and get ready to pay close attention to what you are about to see in your mind's eye, a Vision from the Word of God, for it is a drama of serious consequences.
Ezekiel 12:1
The word of the LORD also came unto me, saying,
[2] Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house.
Understand, they could SEE [know] the truth if they wanted to, but they don't want to. They could hear His voice if they wanted to, but they don't want to, for they are a rebellious house. They would much rather see and listen to a soothsayer tell them that all they have to do is just "believe", and they will escape in the Rapturemobile. Study His word? Who needs it! They think!

So you see, it is not a matter of incapacity, but a matter of ignorance, of laziness and even perversity. As Peter declares in 2 Pet. 3:5, they are "willingly ignorant" of His Word.

Here is what Ezekiel is supposed to do:

[3] Therefore, thou son of man, prepare thee stuff for removing, and remove by day in their sight; and thou shalt remove from thy place to another place in their sight: it may be they will consider, though they be a rebellious house
"Stuff for removing" means "an exile's outfit" like a staff, a knapsack, a supply of food and some clothing. In other words, Ezekiel is to pack his bags for deportation and do it in broad daylight so everyone can see him, and perhaps, just perhaps, maybe, some will get the PICTURE!
Ezekiel 12:4
Then shalt thou bring forth thy stuff by day in their sight, as stuff for removing: and thou shalt go forth at even in their sight, as they that go forth into captivity.
Get everything ready during the day, so everyone can see that you are about to go into exile, and then depart your house in the evening.  Then, while everyone is watching, go dig a tunnel in the wall of the city and carry your possessions out through the hole.
[5] Dig thou through the wall in their sight, and carry out thereby.
As verse 10 will document, this is a prophecy concerning the attempted escape, during the siege of the city, by the "prince in Jerusalem", i.e. king Zedekiah, who would try to flee Jerusalem at night, incognito, through the "gate betwixt the walls".
[6] In their sight shalt thou bear it upon thy shoulders, and carry it forth in the twilight: thou shalt cover thy face, that thou see not the ground: for I have set thee for a sign unto the house of Israel.
Editor's Note: Please don't miss the fact that this message from God, by way of Ezekiel, is not only to Jerusalem and the "House of Judah"; But is addressed to the whole "House of Israel" which would include those Israelites who were displaced by the Assyrians well over 100 years prior to this time. Therefore, it is prophesy for the benefit of us Christians upon whom the end will come, during this 21st. century.

Editor's Note: Remember as you read this study, or any place in the Bible;

#1. When the talk is about the ancient "House of Israel", it is the ten tribes of Israelites who made up that northern kingdom house or nation and have since their dispersement by Assyria in 745-721 B.C., migrated on to the west and have become the Christian nations of our 21st. century.

#2. When the talk is about the ancient "House of Judah", it is the two tribes of Israelites, Judah and Benjamin, who made up that southern kingdom house or nation and have since, after mixing with the Kenites, i.e. descendants of Cain during their Babylonian captivity in 586 B.C., become the Jewish peoples of our 21st. century, now calling themselves, not Israelites but Israelis, many of whom in 1948 moved back to the middle east and with the help of England organized into the new country called Israel today, which was then recognized by the United States and three days later Russia,

Ezekiel is to flee the city in the "twilight" with all his baggage and conceal his face, i.e. his identity.

Notice that he was SET as a SIGN unto the house of Israel that this is going to transpire, very soon
.

Here is the historical account from Jeremiah concerning Zedekiah's escape and capture.

Jeremiah 39:4
And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city bynight, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.

[5] But the Chaldeans' army pursued after them, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho: and when they had taken him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he gave judgment upon him.

The Chaldean army is called "God's Net" in verse 13.

Watch what happens next.

[6] Then the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah in Riblah before his eyes: also the king of Babylon slew all the nobles of Judah.
Nebuchadnezzar killed all of Zedekiah's sons right before his eyes, along with all the nobles of Judah. Then, after Zedekiah saw his sons slain, the king of Babylon had his eyes put out, fulfilling the prophecy of verse 13 that he would not see Babylon, though he would be taken there and die there.
[7] Moreover he put out Zedekiah's eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.
It is a shame that our people don't know the rich history that follows this important historical event concerning the LAST king of Judah.

You see, king Nebuchadnezzar forgot to kill Zedekiah's daughters, "the young tender twigs of the high branch", whose destinies we will read about in chapter 17.

Jeremiah the prophet will take the king's daughters, along with the Stone of Scone, to the shores of Ireland, and there will be a marriage performed upon that stone, that "rock", that will reunite the two lineages of Judah, through Judah's sons Zarah and Pharez.  That Stone of Scone is the same rock which was Jacob's pillow that he anointed as Bethel, the house of God. It was carried in the wilderness and was the very rock that Moses struck and the water poured forth.

Virtually all of the kings and queens of Ireland, Scotland, and England have been coronated upon that rock as it was prophesied to be "overturned" 3 times, to each of those countries respectively! A few years ago it was MOVED from under the "Coronation Chair" in Westminster Abbey, where is has resided since the 1300s, to Edinburgh Castle in Scotland. You can do a web-search on "Stone of Scone". You can start here: http://www3.cnn.com/WORLD/9611/15/stone.of.scone/

Let's return to Ezekiel who did as he was commanded, without whining and complaining!
Ezekiel 12:7
And I did so as I was commanded: I brought forth my stuff by day, as stuff for captivity, and in the even I digged through the wall with mine hand; I brought it forth in the twilight, and I bare it upon my shoulder in their sight.
Ezekiel did his stuff!
[8] And in the morning came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,
[9] Son of man, hath not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said unto thee, What doest thou?
OK, Ezekiel. When they ask, "What in the world are you doing, man?", here's what you say:
[10] Say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; This burden concerneth the prince in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel that are among them.
Nowhere do we read that Ezekiel is instructed to give his own opinion about what all this means. Nor is he to go around the city and do surveys and ask, "Mrs. Observer, what does this mean to you?", or "Mr. Observer, what is your interpretation of what you just saw?"
He is told to say,
"Thus saith the Lord GOD.This is exactly what it means (and your opinion doesn't matter one iota):"
"This demonstration is about the flight of the ruler, Zedekiah, and the exile of all the House of Israel."
Ezekiel 12:11
Say, I am your sign: like as I have done, so shall it be done unto them: they shall remove and go into captivity.
Say, I am your sign, and what you have just seen me do is EXACTLY what is going to happen. You are going to be removed from your homes and exiled. Period!
[12] And the prince that is among them shall bear upon his shoulder in the twilight, and shall go forth: they shall dig through the wall to carry out thereby: he shall cover his face, that he see not the ground with his eyes.
And Zedekiah will flee through the wall at twilight, trying to conceal his identity, but he will be captured by the Chaldean army, his eyes will be put out, and he will die in Babylon (which means confusion). As we have studied in previous lessons, in the final siege by the king of Babylon there will be no escape for the rebellious, and many will die (spiritually) in the religious confusion (Babylon), because they have had their "eyes that could have seen" PUT OUT by the powerful king of Babylon, who is Satan, the soon to come spurious messiah.
[13] My net also will I spread upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare: and I will bring him to Babylon to the land of the Chaldeans; yet shall he not see it, though he shall die there.
And so the fate of king Zedekiah came to pass exactly as it is written.
[14] And I will scatter toward every wind all that are about him to help him, and all his bands; and I will draw out the sword after them.
And so it came to pass exactly as it is written.
The house of Israel was scattered to the four winds.
[15] And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall scatter them among the nations, and disperse them in the countries.
And this is the reason for the judgment, that they may know that "I AM the LORD", and there is none other!
[16] But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the heathen whither they come; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
Hey, that almost sounds like the Marine Corps. God said He will leave "a few good men" (or women) to carry forth the declarations of His Word to those captive among the heathen, those who are confused by religion and churchianity.  Are you one of those few good men or women?

Our Father is very fair and just in all that He says and does for His children, and we are never left in any doubt whatsoever as to where He stands, for He always says what He means and means what He says, the same as He has done from the very beginning and will so continue to do forever.

He also is a very fun-loving Father and He has an Exciting Eternity (EE) planned for His children, far beyond the wildest imaginations of the flesh mind. That's not my opinion, that's a "Thus saith the Lord".

Here it is:

1 Cor. 2:9
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
We have no idea how much fun eternity is going to be, but you can be sure it will be awesome!

It is too bad that the best way some minds can imagine us spending eternity is to have us float around on fluffy clouds and play harps. What kind of incentive is that to "run the race with patience" (Heb. 12:1)?

The fishers and the boaters among us sometimes become alarmed and disappointed when they read that there will be no more seas on earth when the Holy City comes down out of heaven (Rev. 21) and the headquarters of the universe is established in Jerusalem. These folks are NOT easily sold on the concept of spending any time at all, much less eternity, playing a harp on some waterless cloud! They don't even like the word "harp" because it stirs up bad vibrations. (You see, some go fishing just to get away from the harping!)

I always ask the fishermen if they fish at home, and except in rare occasions where someone lives on a lake or river, the answer is no, they go somewhere else. Well, all things, including the entire universe, groans and awaits to be inherited by the overcomers, the sons and daughters of God, as it is written in Rev. 21:7.

Rev. 21:7
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
So that fact is that this beautiful earth will be our home forever and if you want to go fishing, you can go where the best fishing in the universe is, like on Planet Flukeo, or Bassurn, or one of the other planets in the Rainbow Trout Galaxy. You just can't imagine it!

But perhaps you can imagine how our Father must feel, being able to and desiring to pour out His blessings upon His children and yet they won't even give Him the time of day!

They run and listen to every Smooth Talker but ignore His Word no matter if spoken directly by Him, through His prophets, through His Son or through the Written Word itself.

Now, did you know that half of the people who have ever lived in the flesh are alive today, in this generation of the fig tree? This is important and helps us with perspective in understanding the events that are to befall ONE HALF of the sons of God, for this half of His children will face the supernatural, the soon coming king of Babylon, the false-Christ, who is Satan himself. Knowing this helps us to realize the relevance of His Word to this generation, the time of the end, the last days that all of the prophets and disciples were so curious about and desirous to understand what it would be like in the 21st century. If you were able to travel back in time to the days of the prophets or disciples, how would you describe our day to them? Think about it!

We are now going to conclude the 12th chapter of Ezekiel. This "son of Adam", "eth-ha adham" the individual man formed as described in genesis chapter 2, Ezekiel, set by God (ordained) a watchman to his people, has just given us a physical demonstration of the final siege of Jerusalem, even detailing the fate of the last king of Judah, king Zedekiah, who would be captured and suffer his eyes to be put out before being taken to Babylon where he would die.

But the people, even with SIGNS from our Father, (Ezekiel himself was and is a sign. See vs. 6) will not listen. So He has three things He wants His watchmen to tell the people for Him. Then in chapter 13, God will have some choice words for today's preachers and some of those TV evangelists.

Here is the first directive from on high:

Ezekiel 12:17
Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

[18] Son of man, eat thy bread with quaking, and drink thy water with trembling and with carefulness;

Amos 8:11 declares the famine of the end time (even now) to be a famine for hearing the Word of God. Therefore take the bread of life and the living water which you have and holdfast.
[19] And say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord GOD of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and of the land of Israel; They shall eat their bread with carefulness, and drink their water with astonishment, that her land may be desolate from all that is therein, because of the violence of all them that dwell therein.
The definition of two words help to explain the depth of what is being said in this verse. "Astonishment" is the Hebrew word "shimmamowan", which means stupefaction, and violence means "unrighteousness" Ezekiel, tell the people that the Lord God said that they are going to eat their bread with anxiety and drink their water with dismay, because the land IS going to be stripped bare, made desolate, because of their idolatry and abominations.
Ezekiel 12:20
And the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be desolate; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
Our Father warned the children of Israel long ago that this would happen if they did not follow His commandments.

Here is what He said would happen if they followed after other gods:

Leviticus 26:31
And I will make your cities waste, and bring your sanctuaries unto desolation, and I will not smell the savour of your sweet odours.

[32] And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

[33] And I will scatter you among the heathen, and will draw out a sword after you: and your land shall be desolate, and your cities waste.

Thus saith the Lord GOD! The point is: If our Father said it would happen, it will happen exactly as He has said. And He has told us everything that is going to happen in these end times.
Mark 13:23
But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
So the siege did take place as it was promised would happen, but it is for the wise of this generation to understand that it WILL happen again, for there is nothing new under the sun. Eccles. 1:9 "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." The king of Babylon is going to come and lay siege, and sooner than many think. Some don't believe it, some jeer and scoff at it, and some think there's plenty of time left.

Next, God wants His watchmen to address the scoffers who say "God is dead" or God's prophecies are just stories that give false hope to weak minded right wing Christians. Sounds like something you would hear on a CNN or PBS documentary, doesn't it?

Ezekiel 12:21
And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[22] Son of man, what is that proverb that ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth?

It had become a proverbial saying, a common saying among the people, that "It ain't gonna happen!" All things continue as they have.

Here is a New Testament version concerning the vision for our time, the time of the end.

2 Peter 3:3
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

[4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!
The sand is running out of the hour glass.

We continue in Ezekiel:

Ezekiel 12:23
Tell them therefore, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will make this proverb to cease, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel; but say unto them, The days are at hand, and the effect of every vision.
"The children of Israel are going to eat their words, their cute little proverbs that scoff against our Father and His Word!" EVERY VISION shall come to pass.

Note: The invasion of the Chaldean army took place only 5 years later. God's word happened just as it is written. Remember though, that history is prophecy, or as 1 Cor. 10:11 says: "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." We have a similar proverb today that says "History repeats itself."

[24] For there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel.
There will no more "vain visions" which are abominable to our Father. What are those? That's where someone says, "the Lord spoke to me and told me someone has arthritis in her fingers", and the Lord didn't tell them that. It is a lie, even a lie of vanity. This will be addressed in the next chapter. Our Father will also put an end to the "smooth talkers" in this nation.

Did you know you can gain some real insights if you just take your Strong's Concordance and look up the definitions of the words in a verse?

Here's a few from vs. 24:

flattering = chalaq, khaw-lawk', Hebrew 2509; from Hebrew 2505 (chalaq); smooth (especially of tongue) :- flattering, smooth.

vain = shav', shawv, Hebrew 7723; or shav, shav; from the same as Hebrew 7722 (show') in the sense of desolating; evil (as destructive), literal (ruin) or moral (especially guile); figurative idolatry (as false, subjective), uselessness (as deceptive, objective; also adverb in vain) :- false (-ly), lie, lying, vain, vanity.

vision = chazown, khaw-zone', Hebrew 2377; from Hebrew 2372 (chazah); a sight (mentally), i.e. a dream, revelation, or oracle :- vision. (Today they call this a "word of knowledge")

Just wait until chapter 13. Oh boy!
Ezekiel 12:25
For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.
His Word is sure and certain.
It always has been, and it always will be.
And the SIEGE WILL COME upon this froward generation.

Finally, Ezekiel the watchman is to give this "Thus saith the Lord" saying to the "House of Israel". (that would be the Christian nations of western Europe, the isles of Britain and the Americas)

Again, you need to know who the nations are that comprise the house of Israel today (not the house of Judah).

[26] Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

[27] Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth is for many days to come, and he prophesieth of the times that are far off.

These folks believe they have lots and lots of time left.

What shall we say to them?
[28] Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD.
Are you familiar with the "word which He has spoken".

He had it all written down for us so that we are without excuse.

And because He is just and fair and loving and kind, He has foretold us all things, and so we know that the time is near and the VISIONS of the prophets are being SEEN (understood) as Joel said in Joel 2:28 and Peter said in Acts 2:17, and they are coming to pass right before our very eyes.

This is without a doubt the most exciting time to be alive in the flesh, to walk under the sun upon this earth!

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
