Jesus is God, the Son, and He lived with us here on earth
as
a flesh and blood man for short while.

What most of us fail to realize is that Jesus was indeed God the Son, (The second Individual Personality of the Triune God) who came from Heaven, sent by God the Father, (The first Individual Personality of the Triune God) to identify with our suffering and to preach that His Kingdom is not a human kingdom but the Kingdom of God Himself. After His death on the cross and His resurrection He returned to heaven sending His Holy Spirit (The third Individual Personality of the Triune God) to guide and comfort we Christians who believe on Him, repented of our sins, and have invited Him into our heart.

Jesus preached not religion but a personal relationship that God desired to have with people.
Most of us fail to see God's law as revealing our human sins. We don't think of ourselves as sinners. Pride in our religious heritage has blinded us to the truth that we our sinners in need of forgiveness. Many of us attend church and try to do what is good in our own, or our churches, eyes; But are unwilling to believe that Jesus came to earth fulfilling the law by cleansing it with His blood.

Many of us follow Jesus, love to hear about the miracles that He performed. We love His message of peace and love. But we reject the idea that He had to die for each of our personal sins. And that we must invite Him into our heart. (He won't force Himself on us!) It must happen by our own initiative.  Yet many think that if we just do good enough. that will be OK. After all, in our mind we're not so bad; So, we hope to go to heaven based on our own merit!

The Bible says that we are doomed to eternal banishment from the presence of God because sin separates man  from God. Remember, sin brings about a penalty: Ezekiel 18:1 The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,  (Ezekiel 18:4)  "The soul that sins shall die." .

But Jesus Christ said, "I will die in their place. I'll take their judgment. I'll take their death. I'll go to the cross." This is what Christ did for you and for me. Two thousand years ago, God invited a mentally corrupt world to foot of the cross. There He held your sins and mine to the flames until every last vestige of our guilt was consumed. Yes, we will still die the shadow death (the death of our flesh and blood body), but not the death of our soul, if we believe in and come to Him and invite Him into our heart.

The fact is, Jesus willingly died on the cross to identify with all of us who search for truth. Are you among them? Have you heard what Jesus has said to you from the cross? You were there. I was there. Oh, it's true that we hadn't been born yet, but our sins were present that day. It wasn't just the solders, thieves, religious leaders, and passersby who took part in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Our sins also nailed Him to His cross.

No one could have forced Jesus to the cross had He been unwilling to go. He could have called on legions of angels to come to His defense. But instead, Jesus chose to go to Calvary. He willing laid down His life for all of our sins. He died of His own volition by allowing your sins and my sins to be nailed to His cross.

When Jesus hung on the cross, a great unseen cosmic battle raged in the heavens. And in the end Christ triumphed over all the forces of evil and death and hell, giving us the greatest of all hope---eternal forgiveness. He was qualified to do that because He was both God and man,  Only someone who is both God and man could do what Christ did, and could affect what He did. If He was not man. He could not have died on the cross, and arose again to life, for the sins of  humanity. If He was not God, it wouldn't have mattered that He did.

Though the cross repels, it also attracts. It possesses a magnetic quality. Once you have been to the cross, you will never be the same. The greatest vision of sin is at the cross, where we see the greatest vision of love. "Greater love has no man than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends" (John 15:13)
