The
Book of Daniel!
What
a truly marvelous book of insight and wisdom
our
Father has given to us to help us understand
what
would befall the final generation when the abomination of desolation
comes
and stands in the holy place claiming to be God.
Unfortunately, so many of our beloved brothers and sisters are led by their preachers and ministers to believe that they will not be here when the one they call antichrist appears.
In fact, many are told they do not need to understand the Book of Revelation because Jesus Christ is going to come rapture them away before the events written therein take place.
Well, I guess since the Book of Revelation is an overlay of the Book of Daniel, they need not read what he has to say either, right?
The only problem is that Jesus Christ instructed us to go there to gain understanding of what would happen during the 6th Trump when the abominable one comes.
And it is written in the last chapter of Daniel that his words were to be sealed up until the time of the end and then the "wise" would understand.
Therefore, if one does not understand the Book of Daniel and we are in the last days, what does that make him or her?
It makes him or her an unwise Christian and one who will surely fall before the "Instead-of-Jesus" believing that he is the true bridegroom come to take her to wife and rapture her away!
It is written and so shall it be!
On the other hand, those who are wise virgins and have heeded the commands of Jesus Christ to study His Word to show themselves approved as workman, laborers in the field (2 Tim. 2:15), not only know that the little horn, the vile person, the great red dragon, Satan posing as the messiah, comes before the true Christ and takes over world rulership as the false King of kings and Lord of lords, they know from that which is written in the Book of Daniel what he will do and how he will operate when he comes.
To wit, we have already read that he enters in peaceably and prosperously and scatters riches and entitlements throughout the world to all who will bow before him.
And in today's study we will be given even more insight into what to expect him to do when he is here for the five months allotted for him to reign, as per Rev. 9:4.
However, before we return to Daniel let us be reminded that in our last study, in verses 11:36-37, we learned that the vile person will come and do according to his will (not God's) and that he will have no regard for any god other than himself for he will "exalt himself and magnifying himself above every god" and speak blasphemy.
Let's review:
Daniel 11:36
And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
Because of the paramount importance of understanding the sequence of the events that are about to transpire, let us turn to 2 Thes. 2 and read what Paul wrote.
2 Thes. 2:1
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
Paul is "beseeching us", meaning he is imploring, us not to do something!
Here is what he is telling us not to do:
[2] That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
In fact, do not let anyone tell you that Christ has return, as in He is standing in the holy place in Jerusalem!
You should know from Paul's teaching in 1 Cor. 15:51-52 that at the sound of the 7th Trump when Christ returns we be instantly changed from our flesh bodies into our spiritual bodies.
1 Cor. 15:51-52
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
[52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
Please note: We did not say immortal spiritual bodies; we said incorruptible spiritual bodies!
Additionally, those who are Christ's at His coming will also be raised to immortality, which is not to be confused with the change of the flesh body into the spiritual body!
The reason we bring this to your attention is that Christ also warned us that if you HEAR from someone that Christ has return, that He is Jerusalem for example, do not GO FORTH and DO NOT BELIEVE IT!
You "see", when the true Son of man comes, all you will see is a flash of light, like lightning across the sky, and this flesh age will be over!
Let's return to 2nd Thessalonians.Matthew 24:25-27
Behold, I have told you before.[26]Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
[27] For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
2 Thes. 2:3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
They are "in the dark", void of accurate Biblical knowledge, and they will be caught off guard, caught sleeping, when the true Messiah returns.
Why?
Because they will believe Jesus Christ is already here!
You see, whether a man is pope, bishop, elder, preacher, teacher, pastor, minister, deacon, usher, author, televangelist, or the paperboy, we have been instructed to check out what that man says in the Word of God.
Paul said to "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good (1 Thes. 5:21)." Well, Paul was not, neither did he believe he was, nor did he attempt to exempt himself from the "proving and the testing".
It is written in Acts 17 that those rascally Bereans checked him and Silas out in scriptures real good, every day!
So don't listen to man.
Stick with the Word of God.
Jesus Christ will NOT return until the son of perdition (meaning the son who will perish), the little horn, Satan, is revealed first, and there is a great falling away which is when the majority of Christians stumble in the great tribulation of lies and deception and begin worshipping the spurious messiah.
It is the great apostasy yet to come!
This next verse goes hand in hand with Daniel 11:36 and explains what the little horn will do.
[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Again, this event happens BEFORE the return of Jesus Christ, the true Messiah.
Satan returns at the sound of the sixth trumpet.
Christ returns at the seventh trump, the last trump.
Do not let anyone tell you differently, for it is written, and you have just read it!
[5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?[6] And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
Our Father has appointed times!
The Greek word for "withholdeth" in verse 6 is "katecho" which means to hold fast, to hold back, to retain, etc.
Take a Strong's Concordance and look up the many verses in which this word is used.
katecho, kat-ekh'-o, Greek 2722; from Greek 2596 (kata) and Greek 2192 (echo); to hold down (fast), in various applications (literal or figurative) :- have, hold (fast), keep (in memory), let, × make toward, possess, retain, seize on, stay, take, withhold.
However, he will soon "stand up" (Dan. 12:1) and cast Satan and his angels out of heaven to the earth (Rev. 12:7-9).
Rev. 12:7
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,[8] And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
[9] And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
It is NOT some flesh man.
It is that OLD SERPENT from the garden of Eden, called Satan the devil, the son of perdition himself!
And when he is REVEALED, when he is cast out of heaven by the one who is now holding him back, i.e. Michael, he will come as the Messiah returned, looking just like the Lamb, and will "deceive the whole world" into believing he is Jesus Christ.
That IS the great tribulation of the "spurious messiah".
It will be a time of peace and prosperity (Dan. 11:24) for all, but it will be the greatest time of spiritual trouble ever for it will mean "spiritual death" to MANY!!
As it is written, the magnitude of this event will be "such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time... (Dan. 12:1)."
Remember that Satan is supernatural, an angel, and when he comes he will be accompanied by his angels who are cast out with him, which we read in Rev. 12:9.
They are the same "fallen angels" of Gen. 6 who left heaven (their first habitation - Jude 6) and came directly to earth in the time of Noah.
They were "giving and taking in marriage" and took the daughters of Adam to wife causing our Father to bring about the flood of Noah.
"As it was in the days of Noah", Jesus said in Luke 17:26, "so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man."
Back to 2nd Thessalonians:
2 Thes. 2:7
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
That one is Michael.
Here is a little clearer translation to help understand verses 6 & 7:
2 Thes. 2:7
As for the work this man of rebellion and hell will do when he comes, it is already going on, but he himself will not come until the one who is holding him back steps out of the way. (Living Bible)
2 Thes. 2:8
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:[9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
In other words, Satan will put on a dynamite display of deceptive miracles to convince folks he is really Jesus and the people are going to absolutely love it!
This "star" performer really knows how to "work a crowd"!
wonders = dunamis, doo'-nam-is, Greek 1411; from Greek 1410 (dunamai); force (literal or figurative); specially miraculous power (usually by implication a miracle itself) :- ability, abundance, meaning, might (-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle (-s), power, strength, violence, might (wonderful) work.
The answer is NO which you can document in Deuteronomy 13:1-4.
[10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
That's really easy for Christ Himself gave us the answer:
John 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
If you do not love the Word of God, you do not love Jesus Christ for you cannot separate the Living Word of God from the Written Word of God!
The great apostasy is of those who claim to be Christians but do not know or love the truth.
And because of this, God is going to send the false messiah and they are going to love him and believe his lie that he is Jesus Christ.
[11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:[12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits;
to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy
Spirit, you accomplish both.
