Things That Matter Most
"At the End of Your Life"
"You Will Never Regret
not having passed one more test,
winning one more verdict,
or closing one more deal."
"You Will Regret
time not spent with
a husband,
a child,
a friend,
or a parent."
"What ever the Era,
what ever the time
one thing will never change:
Fathers and Mothers,
if you have children,
they must come first...
Your Success as a Family,
Our Success as a Society,
Depends not on what happens
in the White House,
but
What Happens
in Your House."
by Barbara Bush
Monuments & Memorials
There are no Monuments or Memorials in Washington
to a President for his Economic Policies.
The People who
we Remember and Revere
are those
who Believed in the things that Matter Most:
the things of the Spirit,
such as
Honor, Selflessness, Humility,
Service to Others,
Self Control, Fidelity, and Virtue
Such Notions used to be Basic
They were Rarely Discussed.
They were Considered
"Self Evident Truths"
The Things That Matter
*******************
Above all else,
these
are the things that matter most:
faith in a personal God who is Knowable,
Family,
Freedom to Pursue one's Dreams,
and
Keeping
most of the Gain
you
get through hard and honest work
By
discarding faith in God
you
have lost the concept of sin,
which
teaches that Man is not basically good,
but
is
flawed from within
and can never be made perfect from without.
One cannot understand America
and certainly not
its founders or institutions
if one does not understand
the
Jewish/Christian consciousness
of
the reality of sin.
With
out that understanding,
one
is living in a fools paradise.
Without that,
the Institutions will not Function
or long endure.
Our Republic
was
Designed
for Sinners
This Republic was designed for sinners.
There
is no use Trying
to
Build a Republic for Saints.
There are too few of them.
You
need a Republic
with
Checks and Balances.
Be distrustful of
"utopic instincts"
The Massive Illusion
that Citizens are Inherently and Infallibly Good,
and
that Government Officials
may
Establish Happiness on Earth,
has met reality.
The Greatest Power on Earth
is not what Outsiders do to us,
but,
what we do to Ourselves.
We
Don't Need New Leaders
****************
We
don't need to look for new leaders,
we need to be new leaders.
America is People who once,
shared a common idea,
a
set of values and principles
that
defined a nation.
Just
One "Ordinary"
Person
***************
The
redemption of a great nation
can begin
with a single and powerful decision
by one "ordinary" person
that influences others
to make similar decisions
because they perceive
how right and beautiful and good that decision is.
The promise for the future,
rooted in a new birth
of spiritual, political, and economic freedom,
can and must be kept.
We owe it to those who have gone before.
If we fail,
we will be held accountable
by those who are yet to come.
