My Note: "To know" means "to have sex with" Ref. Scripture Genesis 2:17
Scripture:Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
In many places throughout the Bible "to know" someone means "to have sex with"; therefore, doesn't it stand to reason "eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil" also refer to having sex with?
Genesis 3:16 leads me to believe that it does! (see below)
Examples:
Genesis 4:1 ¶And
Adam
knew Eve his wife;and she conceived, and bare
Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
Genesis 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Genesis 4:25 ¶And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
Genesis 19:8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.
Genesis 24:16 And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up.
Genesis 38:26 And Judah
acknowledged them, and said, She hath been more righteous than I; because
that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And
he knew her again no more.
27 And it came to pass
in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins
were in her womb.
Numbers 31:17 Now therefore
kill every male among the little ones, and
kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
18
But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him,
keep alive for yourselves.
Judges 11:39 And it came
to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who
did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and
she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel,
Numbers 31:35 And thirty
and two thousand persons in all, of women
that had not known man by lying with him.
Judges 19:22 ¶Now
as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain
sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and
spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring
forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.
Judges 19:25 But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.
Judges 21:12 And they found among the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead four hundred young virgins, that had known no man by lying with any male: and they brought them unto the camp to Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.
1 Samuel 1:19 ¶And
they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and
returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and
Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.
20 Wherefore it came to
pass, when the time was come about after Hannah
had conceived, that she bare a son, and called
his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.
1 Kings 1:4 And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.
Luke 1:34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
Complete text: Genesis 3:1
¶Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which
the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said,
Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent,
We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is
in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither
shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman,
Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye
eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing
good and evil.
6 ¶And
when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was
pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she
took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her
husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened,
and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together,
and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD
God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife
hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the
garden.
9 ¶And the LORD God called unto Adam,
and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the
garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 ¶And he said, Who told thee that
thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee
that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou
gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the LORD God said unto the woman,
What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled
me, and I did eat.
14 ¶And the LORD God said unto the
serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle,
and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust
shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and
the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head,
and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Genesis 3:16
¶Unto the woman he
said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow
thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to
thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Now I ask: If eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil wasn't about having sex, why was the punishment about conception and child birth?
Remember, Trees are symbolic of people both flesh and blood bodies and spirit bodies. (Jesus is the tree of life. Satan is the tree in the midst of the garden. Even you and me in this flesh age!)
