My Note: THE HIGH PLACES, THE SIN OF ISRAEL, SHALL BE DESTROYED Ref. Scripture Hosea 10:8

If you can understand this next verse then you will have learned the whole point
of the lessons in the Book of Hosea (salvation).

Scripture:   Hosea 10:8  The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

Complete text: Hosea 10:1  ķIsrael is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself: according to the multitude of his fruit he hath increased the altars; according to the goodness of his land they have made goodly images.
2  Their heart is divided; now shall they be found faulty: he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images.
3  For now they shall say, We have no king, because we feared not the LORD; what then should a king do to us?
4  They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.
5  The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
6  It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.
7  As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the water.
The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

Let's read it again:
Here it is: Hosea 10:8 The high places also of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

Question: The "high places also of Aven", i.e. the Beth-avens, are the places of worship, which are what today?
Answer:Yes, Our Churches!

They are the "sin of Israel" because it is in those "high places"
where the idolatrous traditions of men are placed
as if they were "golden calves" in substitute for the Word of God.

And just as Christ foretold us in Mat. 24 and Mark 13, all this deception is done in the name of Christianity!

It... shall be destroyed: the thorn and the thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

Those "high places" are soon coming down
and many Christians who are caught up in the "great falling away",
the great apostasy of the last days spoken of by Paul in 2 Thes. 2,
will discover their whoredom and be so ashamed they would rather die,
i.e. that the mountains would fall on them,
than face the One to whom they were unfaithful when they committed adultery
and were impregnated by the lies of antichrist, the Instead of Jesus,
whom they believed was their God!

The same thing is recorded is the Book of Revelation concerning those who worshipped the beast, antichrist, the false messiah:

Rev. 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
Yes, those who eat the bad fruit from Idol-a-Tree make Him angry.
[17] For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
The answer as to who shall be able to stand in that "great day" depends on what kind of a house you have built for yourself:
Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

[25] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock."

You build that house line by line, verse by verse, chapter by chapter,
upon (from) the Rock, Jesus Christ, the Word of God.

Or you can continue in the traditions of men which, though you cry "Lord, Lord (Mat. 7:21)",
lead our people to commit spiritual whoredom and spiritual perversion!

By the way, did you ever read what happened in Gibeah in Judges 19 & 20?

If you did, then you know those engaging in perversion got what was coming to them!

(Remember that the physical sins they committed represent
the spiritual type of idolatry committed today (see 1 Cor. 10:11).

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
