My Note: Precept upon precept Ref. Scripture Isaiah 28:10 & 13
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Scripture: Isaiah 28:9 Whom
shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he
make to understand doctrine? them that
are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
10 For
precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line
upon line; here a little, and there a little:
11 For with stammering
lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.
12 To whom he said, This
is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing:
yet they would not hear.
13 But
the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept;
line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that
they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
and whom shall he make to understand doctrine?
Isaiah 28:9 ..."them
that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts".
1
Corinthians 3:1 ¶And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as
unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2
I
have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able
to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3
For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is
among you envying, and strife, and divisions,
are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
Hebrews
5:1 ¶For every high priest taken from among men is ordained
for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices
for sins:
2
Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the
way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
3
And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself,
to offer for sins.
4
And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God,
as was Aaron.
5
So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he
that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
6
As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the
order of Melchisedec.
7
Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications
with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death,
and was heard in that he feared;
8
Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9
And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto
all them that obey him;
10
¶Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
11
Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are
dull of hearing.
12
For
when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach
you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are
become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13
For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness:
for he is a babe.
14
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who
by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
Hebrews
6:1 ¶Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ,
let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance
from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2
Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection
of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
3
And this will we do, if God permit.
4
For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted
of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they
crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
7
For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth
forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from
God:
8
But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto
cursing; whose end is to be burned.
How about Peter?
1
Peter 2:1 ¶Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile,
and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow
thereby:
3
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4
¶To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men,
but chosen of God, and precious,
5
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood,
to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion
a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall
not be confounded.
7
Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be
disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made
the head of the corner,
8
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble
at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar
people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you
out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which
had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
11
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly
lusts, which war against the soul;
12
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they
speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they
shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
You won't learn sound doctrine reading just one passage of scripture.
Sound doctrine is hidden throughout the Bible.
Why would God hide it, you ask?
So
that those who really believe in him and truly love him will find it!
Isaiah 28:10 For
precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line
upon line; here a little, and there a little:
You
won't find it if all you do is go to church each Sunday and sing hymns
and listen to your pastor preach a sermon.
No,
You must open and eat the little book!
