Presents Pamphlet #320
By Jeff Rhine
"How Can it be Made Any More Clear"
How can it be made any
more clear,
than by the First Amendment
to the U.S. Constitution:
"Congress shall make no
law respecting an establishment of religion,
or prohibiting the free
exercise therof; ..." (Amendment I to
the Constitution of the
United States of America),
that the United States
government is not to codify and enforce
any system of rewards
and punishments
for adhering or not to
an official state religion
and its doctrines?
Further, though,
how can it be made any
more clear that
our Founding Fathers
were Christians
and that our founding
documents and institutions
were formulated on a
Christian foundation?
Ours was founded a Christian
nation.
As Patrick Henry is recorded
to have said:
"It cannot be emphasized
too strongly or too often
that this great nation
was founded,
not by religionists,
but by Christians;
not on religions,
but on the gospel of
Jesus Christ!"
Accordingly, Christian
Americans ought to not have,
exercise, or tolerate
hatred against non-Christians
and we ought to not punish
or imprison them
simply because they are
non-Christians.
With this stated and clear,
being now a presupposition
--
stand firm, fill the
gap, teach, and lead the way.
Finally, as Americans,
we can feel emboldened
to pray that
-- on their knees, humbled,
truly seeking the face God --
our leaders conduct our
collective affairs consistent with God's will.
God Bless,
Jeff Rhine
