In
Daniel 11 verses 36 & 37 we read where the vile person
was
"exalting himself,
and
magnifying himself above every god".
Dan 11:36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.
[37] Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.
These are the same words the Apostle Paul uses in 2 Thes. 2:4.
Because of the
paramount importance of understanding the sequence of events
that transpire
at Christ's return,
let's review
Paul's excellent instructions.
The subject in 2 Thes. 2 is contained in verse 1:
2 Thes. 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
The subject is Christ's return and our gathering together with Him.
[2] That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand
.Do not be swayed or confused about when Christ returns.
Do not let anyone tell you that He is here (standing in the holy place).
[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Don't listen to
man.
Stick with the
Word of God.
Christ will NOT
return until the son of perdition
(meaning the
son who will perish),
the little horn,
Antichrist,
Satan,
is revealed first,
and there is
a great falling away.
The great falling
away is when the majority of Christianity "falls away" from the true Christ
and begins worshipping
the spurious messiah.
It
is the great apostasy.
[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Here we see the quote from Daniel 11:36: "and exalteth himself above all that is called God."
He claims to be God.
Don't believe it just because he performs miracles in the sight of men!
This event happens
BEFORE the return of Jesus Christ,
the true Messiah.
Satan returns at the sound of the sixth trumpet.
Christ returns at the sound of the seventh trump,
the last trump.
Do
not let anyone tell you differently,
for
it is written,
and
you have just read it!
