Exodus
Chapter
6
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob
encourages Moses
Exodus
6:1 ¶Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what
I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and
with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
2
And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:
3
And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of
God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
4
And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land
of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.
5
And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the
Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
Exodus
6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and
I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will
rid you out of their bondage, [*]and
I
will redeem you with a stretched out arm,
and with great judgments:
[*]"I will redeem you" Exodus is the book of redmption and teaches:
[1] redemption is wholly of God
[Ex.3:7-8; Jn.3:16];
Exodus
3:7 ¶And the LORD said, I have
surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard
their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8
And
I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to
bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land
flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the
Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the
Jebusites.
John
3:16 For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life.
[2] redemption is through a person
[Ex.2:2, Jn.3:16-17];
Exodus
2:2 And the woman conceived, and bare
a son: and when she saw him that he was a goodly child, she hid him three
months.
John
3:16 For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. 17
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that
the world through him might be saved.
[3] redemption is by blood [Ex.12:13,23,27;
1 Pet.1:18-19]
Exodus
12:13 And the blood shall be to you
for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will
pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when
I smite the land of Egypt. 12:23
For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth
the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass
over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses
to smite you. 12:27
That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, who passed
over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians,
and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
1
Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that
ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from
your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19
But
with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without
spot:
and [4] redemption is by power
[Ex.6:6; 13:14; Rom.8:2.]
Exodus
6:6 Wherefore say unto the children
of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens
of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem
you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
Exodus
13:14 And it shall be when thy son asketh
thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him,
By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house
of bondage:
Romans

1
Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that
ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from
your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19
But
with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without
spot:
and the power of the Holy Spirit
delivers from the dominion of sin on the basis of Calvary (Rom.8:2; Gal.5:16).
Romans
8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life
in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Galatians
5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit,
and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Exodus
6:7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you
a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you
out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
8
And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear
to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for
an heritage: I am the LORD.
9
And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not
unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
10
¶And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
11
Go in, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel
go out of his land.
12
And Moses spake before the LORD, saying, Behold, the children of Israel
have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who am of uncircumcised
lips?
13
And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto
the children of Israel, and unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring the children
of Israel out of the land of Egypt.
The heads of the children of Israel

of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.

Despite God's encouragement (v.1),

Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I say unto thee.

how shall Pharaoh hearken unto me?
History shows that the northern 10 tribes migrated north over the Caucasus Mountains (hence called Caucasians) and became known as the Cimmerians, the Celts, the Saxons ('Saac's sons), etc., and settled in western Europe, the British isles, and later many migrated to the Americas.
