The Right to Bear Arms
Should not be Questioned by a Rational People!
Our founding fathers were Revolutionaries
What did They do?
In 1776 they rebelled against and defeated
a government that had become totalitarian,
winning freedom for all Americans.
Next they set up a constitutional government,
knowing that as time went by,
and people began taking their freedoms for granted,
even the new government would tend to become totalitarian,
so they added a Bill of Rights to the Constitution.
They decided that their basic individual (not group) rights were God given
and no government, not even the one they had just formed
should be able to take those rights away.
What were These Rights?
Among these rights are;
freedom of speech (even speech against our own government),
freedom of Assembly (even if to protest our government's actions),
freedom not to be found guilty of a crime by government decree (only by a jury of our peers),
freedom not to be searched (without good cause),
or have property seized (without due Process of law),
freedom to keep and bear arms (without question).
Why Arms?
Why was the Right to Keep and Bear Arms included?
Our founding fathers knew, that:
If someone says "shut up" while he has a gun and you don't,
You Shut Up!
If someone says "worship this Rock" while he has a gun and you don't,
unless your faith in God is very strong, You Worship the Rock!
If someone says, they think "you committed a crime, you're going to jail!"
While he has a gun and you don't, You go to Jail!
If someone breaks into your home, while he has a gun and you don't,
you are going to stand there and let him do as he pleases in your home!
If someone says "turn
over forty percent of your earnings to me,
right off the top,
before you even get it in your hands,
then pay me six percent
more every time you buy something,
then pay forty four
more cents on every gallon of gas you buy,
Oh ! By the way
we are going to take
money from the businesses you purchase things from, also;
so you can count on
that amount of money being added to the price of every thing you buy!
You can do what you want with the thirty percent of your earnings that you have left"
while he has a gun and you don't,
you are going to say "here take another ten percent ,
my family wasn't hungry anyway".
If that someone happens to be your government,
then what?
Only the Strong Prevail
Our founding fathers knew that no government controlled agency or court,
could be trusted to guarantee our rights.
They knew that the only way these rights could be defended
was with the people having the ability to form their own militia,
should it ever become necessary,
and to have the necessary weapons
at hand when that time comes;
thus,
the reason for the Second Amendment
in our Bill of Rights.
Were They Correct?
Two hundred plus years later, these things are happening,
just as our founding fathers feared.
You don't think so!
You haven't been reading your newspaper reports!
Better start paying attention!
Sooner or later,
"We the People" will have to do what
Franklin, Washington, Jefferson and Adams
did in 1776
and say
"Enough is Enough!
We'll form our own well regulated militia,
thanks to the Second Amendment,
and take back our country!
I only hope that our well-meaning but mis-guided fellow citizens
haven't given away our Right to Keep and Bear Arms before that day arrives.
As Ben Franklin said,
"Those who would give up essential freedoms for a little security
deserve neither Freedom Nor Security".
