Pamphlet 1929 Hebrews kc 3-2

So never let the "ignorant" milk bottle suckers give you this
"All you need is salvation and baptism" stuff!

Let's make a structural picture of Hebrews 1:5 through 1:14
to illustrate that so much of what we are reading from the lips of Paul
is taken directly from the Old Testament.

Pay close attention to Hebrews 1:5 & 1:6 and you will "see" both the First Advent (vs. 5)
and Second Advent (vs. 6) of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

(Note: If you are "sharp" minded and not "dull minded"
then Deut. 32:43 should immediately "utter" to your mind the second half of Ps. 61:2 concerning the second advent.

A word to the wise.

Also, in verse 6, the fact that the Septuagint, the Greek version of the OT
translated by 70 (hence "septuagint") scholars at Alexandria, Egypt,
during the reign of Ptolemy Philadephus (285-247 BC),
attests to the scholarship of Paul who would have been well familiar with it.

Here then is Paul's teaching in Hebrews 1:5-14 in parallel, in perfect harmony, with the law and the prophets.

Hebrews 1:5 For unto which of the angels said He at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
Psalm 2:7
I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Hebrews 1:6
And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

Deut. 32:43
Rejoice, ye heavens, with him, and let all the angels of God worship him; rejoice ye Gentiles, with his people, and let all the sons of God strengthen themselves in him; for he will avenge the blood of his sons, and he will render vengence, and recompense justice to his enemies, and will reward them that hate him; and the Lord shall the land of his people.  (Septuagint) (See also footnote in NIV)
Hebrews 1:7
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
Psalm 104:4
Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
Hebrews 1:8
But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Psalm 45:6
Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
Hebrews 1:9
Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed  thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Psalm 45:7
Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Hebrews 1:10
And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands:
Psalm 102:25
Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
Hebrews 1:11
They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment;
Psalm 102:26
They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
Hebrews 1:12
And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
Psalm 102:27
But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.
Hebrews 1:13
But to which of the angels said he at any times, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Psalm 110:1
The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Hebrews 1:14
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Psalm 103:20-22
Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

[21] Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.

[22] Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

Pretty amazing, isn't it?

The point is that if one truly wants to come to KNOW Jesus Christ,
He is FOUND in the volume of the Book, ALL of it!

So never let the "ignorant" milk bottle suckers give you this
"All you need is salvation and baptism" stuff!

Salvation and Baptism are beautiful and they are necessary,
but as Paul explains in Hebrews 5, they are for babes, new Christians!

Once you have "been there and done that" (ONE TIME) then grow up
and mature in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Word of God!

2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen."

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
