Pamphlet 1752 Figtree kc 1-1

The age old question asked by the servants of God both "then" and "now" is,
"When shall the end of this earth age be?

And what signs shall there be that we may know that the return of Christ is "nigh at hand,
even at the doors (Mk. 13:29)"?

Of course to the scoffers who walk after their own lusts and desires serving only themselves,
these are silly questions because they do not believe there ever will be an end to this flesh age
(the "end of the world" as they call it) or the return of Jesus Christ.

They believe that the current order of things will just continue on and on
because they are ignorant (by choice) of the fact that the Word of God declares
that there was an earth age long,
long ago when the dinosaurs roamed the land
and that there WAS an abrupt end to that first earth age
because Almighty God destroyed it by His wrath at Satan's rebellion.

That's right!

That beautiful heaven and earth age that our Father created in the beginning (Gen. 1:1)
to be inhabited (Isa. 45:18) suddenly became void and without form (Gen. 1:2),
as in totally and utterly waste and desolate (tohu va bohu in Hebrew),
and water completely covered the face of the earth.

Furthermore, the evidence of that cataclysmic event is not hidden from our view
as the earth itself visibly displays those layered upheavals of her crust
and the earth sciences continue to uncover and categorize
the bones and fossils of that aeon gone by!

Here is what the apostle Peter says regarding the scoffers of our day:

2 Peter 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

[2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

Jesus Christ told us in Mark 13 that He has "foretold us all things"
(in His Word) so be mindful,
as in pay close attention to and study the holy prophets
and the commandment of the apostles,
i.e. BOTH the Old and the New Testaments.
[3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
They're everywhere!   They're everywhere!
[4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
"It just isn't going to happen", they say.
[5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

[6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

God destroyed the first earth age
and EVERY living thing PERISHED from off the face of the earth
and there was NO LIGHT whereby only darkness covered the face of the deep (Gen. 1:2).

So do not confuse this with the flood of Noah.

In fact, you can read the details of the destruction of the first age in Jer. 4:19-27.

However, the point is that it is written in the Word of God
(and evidenced without) that our Father did destroy that first heaven and earth age
"by His fierce anger" (Jer. 4:26)
and so you can be certain from that same Word
that He will bring about the day of judgment to this one as well.

Again, it is clearly written:

[7] But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
Make no mistake about it!

The Day of the Lord
and the return of Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords shall come
whether any man believes it or not.

The question is if you do believe it,
"Would you like to know when it shall come to pass?"

The disciples wanted to know and so they sought Him
and they went to Him "privately" and asked Him!

How many Christians do you know who do likewise,
i.e. who go to Him privately, to His Word, and seek the answers to their questions?

You see, this is extremely important because herein lies the key
as to whether or not you will be able to understand the Parable of the Fig Tree.

Now read Pamphlets 1753 through 1769

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
