Babylon
the great shall fall at the hand of Almighty God
at
the return of Christ and she, that great harlot,
shall
"be found NO MORE AT ALL", as in gone forever!
The Book of Nahum is the vision of what happens at the
second advent
on "the day of vengeance of our God" (Isa. 61:2) when
Babylon the great
(typified by Nineveh, the seat of the Assyrian)
is utterly destroyed by Jesus Christ and "the comfort"
(Nahum means "comfort") that destruction of wickedness
brings to "all that mourn" (Isa. 61:2),
i.e. the saints who lament the evil injustice of the
one world system headed by antichrist
and who await for the King of kings and His righteous
judgment
to avenge the affliction of our people.
Such is the theme and alternating subject of this great Book of Nahum.
In an earlier study we ended with Nahum 1 vs. 9
where the Lord said He would "make an utter end" of Nineveh
and "she" shall NEVER again rise to afflict His people.
In as much as Nineveh was a type of Babylon the great
of the last days,
this speaks in the futurist sense of the events of Revelation
18
when "that great city Babylon shall be thrown down, and
shall be found no more."
You see, it SHALL happen and there is NO ONE who can "imagine
against the Lord",
i.e. form devices against the "powerful bow of Almighty
God" (El-kosh).
Hence, "Nahum the Elkoshite" means the "comfort which
comes from the Power of God"
when He takes vengeance, executing justice, upon His
(and therefore our) enemies.
Truth and Justice shall prevail and triumph over evil!
Let us repeat Nahum 1:9 and then read it in Revelation 18.
Nahum 1:9 What do ye imagine against the LORD? He will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.
Note: It is true that Satan will be released for a short
time
at the end of the Millennium but he will not be allowed
to rebuild Babylon,
i.e. he will not have a one world political system such
as he had in the first earth age
and is afforded in this present one.
Babylon the great shall fall at the hand of Almighty God
at the return of Christ and she,
that great harlot, shall "be found NO MORE AT ALL", as
in gone forever!
Rev. 18:21 And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all."To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
