Wow! For three chapters now we have been reading the details concerning the events of and the reasons for the proclamation that was given to us at the beginning of this great book of Micah.
Let us refresh our memories:
It is written throughout the Word of God that ALL the nations of the world are going to come to know that "Yahveh is God" (which is what "Joel's" name means in Hebrew) and learn the lesson of the 1st Commandment, i.e. that there is no other "god", for "Who is like Yahveh?" (which is what the name "Micah" means). You see, the Lord GOD Himself is going to be "witness" and here is how:Micah 1:2
Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.
We learned that it was because of the "sin of Samaria", which is false religion and idolatry, which is the worshipping of another "god" (even that abominable one, Satan, who will come claiming to be Jesus), that brings forth His wrath when He "comes forth out of His place". However, there is really good news in all this, especially for those who love the Lord and who now walk in His ways. The good news is that His kingdom IS coming soon and His will shall be done on earth as it is in heaven. Is that not what we look forward to and pray for? Therefore, let us eat our daily bread from the Word of God and walk in His ways, for there is none like Yahveh![3] For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.
Here is His promise:
Note: You can read this exact same promise almost word for word in Isaiah 2:2-5 for all the prophets speak His words and are therefore all "on the same page".Micah 4:1
But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
"Mountains" are symbolic of nations and government. The "mountain of the house of the LORD" is kingdom of God which is the "dominion" whose "king" is Jesus Christ. He is returning with His saints at the second advent, at the 7th Trump, as the King of kings and Lord of lords to rule all nations with a rod of iron.
Jesus Christ will bring with Him all the saints who have died and are with Him now (1 Thes. 4:13-14). They shall appear (rise) first and then we who are alive and remain (in the flesh) at His coming shall be instantly changed into our spiritual bodies (in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the LAST trump - 1 Cor. 15:50-52) and we shall join together with them "in the clouds" (a figure of speech which means "in a group") and in the "aer" (which is the "breath" of life body, i.e. the spiritual body Paul told us we would instantly changed into at the last trump).Rev. 19:14
And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
Again, we have been reading here in Micah the details and the reasons for His wrath and the "treading" He does as ALL nations are placed in subjection to Him, i.e. placed under the rulership of the Kingdom of God! Micah 1:4 "And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place."[15] And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
Let's repeat Micah 4:1 so that we pick up the context of verse 2.[16] And He hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
By the way, this shall be the ultimate and final "Shift of Power" in the house of Jacob when all liberalism and injustice shall be dasheled to pieces! The two-party system will be gone forever and we will truly have "One Nation Under God, Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for ALL".Micah 4:1
But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
This is how it shall be during the Millennium when the mountain of the house of the LORD is established in "the last days".[2] And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
The bottom line is that the people shall be taught the difference between the two Jesus Christs, i.e. between the real Christ and His ways and the Instead-of-Christ (Satan) and his ways. They shall not only be taught the difference, they shall be taught to then DISCERN between the "right" and the "left", between justice and liberalism.Ezekiel 44:23
And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.
And the Zadok (the just ones, i.e. His servants) shall "sit on the benches" so to speak and enforce God's righteous laws during the Millennium. There will be no separation of God and state even as there is none now in our Constitution!
The Word of God will be the Constitution.[24] And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; and they shall judge it according to my judgments: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all mine assemblies; and they shall hallow my sabbaths.
Again, He shall judge through His saints who shall be the kings and priests during the Millennium. (Rev. 5:10 "And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth." Rev. 20:6 "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.")Micah 3:3
And He shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
*Look up the word "hosts" in Strong's Concordance and you will find it means "an army", like the one coming with Him when He returns. Nevertheless, this verse should let you know that The Word of God is His mouth through which He speaks and when the Word of God declares a thing, that is how is SHALL BE for He has spoken it! Do you hear His voice (Heb. 3:15)? If not you had better open up the "little black book"! Yes, the one laying there on your coffee table![4] But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts* hath spoken it.
During the Millennium there will be no "oppressors" allowed to rob and strip away from the people either their heritage or their fruit! Nor shall one be given that which was earned and belongs to another through some "entitlement" program! He shall assume responsibility for himself (all his fruits) for he shall sit under his own vine and his own fig tree. The Lord has spoken it! It is written! You can count on it! Satan himself will be bound in the pit for the duration of the 1000 years (Rev. 20:2) and he will not be allowed to influence people. In fact, the people will walk by him during the Millennium and say "... Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms" (Isaiah 14:16)?
This next verse is the conclusion or summarizing thought of those who now "see" and "know" the beautiful Plan of God and the vision given here by the prophet Micah of the soon coming kingdom of God! In other words, verse 5 is a parenthetical statement which applies to now, not to the period of the Millennium and for that reason some translations, such as the Moffat Bible, have it enclosed in parenthesis.
"For" means "rather" or "though it be". In other words the Lord of hosts has spoken about the wonderful establishment of the "mountain of the house of the LORD" (Micah 4:1) and though the people (now) walk in the name of their own god (with a little "g"), we who know His Word and love His commands will walk in the name of the LORD our God (with a big "G") now and for ever and ever.Micah 4:5
For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.
"For all the peoples walk, each one in the name of his god: but we will walk in the name of Jehovah our God forever and ever." (J.P. Green Interlinear Bible)
When the King and kings and Lord of lords returns to this earth in that day to set up His Kingdom and take His chaste virgin bride to wife, will you be prepared for Him and adorned with a fine white linen wedding garment on? Or will He find out that you have been in bed with another "man"(Satan) and are suckling his child? WOE! That wouldn't make Him very happy, would it?
We have already learned that the "mountain of the house of the LORD" shall be established on high, i.e. above all other nations.
Let us see what else shall happen in that day.
"In that day" refers back to vs. 1, which is the day that the "mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains". In that day He will gather and restore His children of the House of Israel. Those "that halteth" are those who are limping about having lost their way and who have stumbled and "fallen", and those who were driven out are those who were taken captive and "led astray". The important thing to realize and understand from this verse is that it is the LORD Himself who has "afflicted" her! It is His doing for He is in complete control (Col. 1:16-17). You see, He is the one who sends the Assyrian against His people to cause "her" travail. (Make note of the use of the feminine pronouns here.)Micah 4:6
In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted;
He will take the lost sheep of the house of Israel and those of the house of Judah and they shall be gathered and joined back together (into one stick, Ezk. 37) and restored into that glorious One Nation Under God. "And the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever."[7] And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
The "tower of the flock" is the tower of "Eder" (as in Gen. 35:21) and is used here of Bethlehem in combination with "the stronghold" which is Ophel, "David's birthplace" and "David's city".[8] And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.
Note: See the commentary and structure in the Companion Bible on Micah 4:8 & 5:2 and appendix 68 I where Dr. Bullinger explains that "Ophel and Zion are equivalent names applied to the highest point or mound of the hill ridge running due south from Mount Moriah and was the summit of the original Jebusite fortress; almost directly above the "Virgin Fount".
The point is that the "birth of the new nation" will come forth from the same location as the first (i.e. former) dominion. We shall discuss more of this in the next chapter when we see the prophecy of Messiah's advents, for "He who came in grace at the first advent shall come in judgment" (to rule all nations) at the second.
So we have now read the good news and "seen" the beautiful yet future "vision" in this fourth chapter of Micah concerning "the mountain of the house of the LORD (which) shall be established in that day "in the top of the mountains, and exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it". (Micah 4:1) It is important that we keep that comforting "vision" foremost in our minds, because for now, UNTIL THAT DAY when the birth of a new age comes forth, she (the woman) must go through travail, i.e. "labor pains", which are part of the birth process.
Now why dost thou cry aloud? Dr. Bullinger correctly notes: "This refers to the birth-pangs of the new nation which will be brought forth in that day and at that time." (Companion Bible, pg. 1256)Micah 4:9
Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy counsellor perished? for pangs have taken thee as a woman in travail.
You see, labor pains were ordained of God from the beginning and placed (afflicted) on the woman because of what she had done. It is because of the "seduction", the "sin of Samaria", the "great apostasy", that she must travail. (Actually, it even goes back to the seduction and "falling away" in the first earth age, Rev. 12:4.)
Let's go briefly and check out what happened in the garden of Eden immediately following the seduction.
Note: We are not going into all the documentation of the seduction of Eve in the garden. If you are a new student and this is new to you please feel free to go (Live Link) to-> GenesisChapters3&4 on this web site and read chapters three and four of Genesis.
What was it she had done? The answer is that she allowed the serpent, "that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world" (Rev. 12:9) to seduce her and she was now "with child". So, because of "what she had done" she would now have to go through "travail" before giving birth.Genesis 3:13
And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
Why do suppose the LORD is addressing her conception? It is because she is now "with child" just having been impregnated with the seed from Satan himself and she will soon thereafter (Gen. 4:1) bring forth his child whose name will be called Cain, a sorrow indeed. He will become the first murderer of a son of Adam and his posterity will bring about the crucifixion of the Son of God, through his grand-children THE KENITES!.Genesis 3:16
Unto the woman He said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Also, the Hebrew word translated "sorrow" is "etseb" which means "labor pangs". This is why Jesus Christ would say "Woe!" to those who are spiritually seduced and impregnated by the serpent (Satan) in the last days:
Those who are deceived in this final generation, who do not remain "chaste virgins" to Christ (2 Cor. 2:11) but are spiritually seduced and impregnated by the false messiah, like the physical example we can "see" of Eve's seduction and conception in the garden, shall experience the sorrows which are the "labor pangs" in this final generation. "Woe to them who are with child!" Remember also that Christ foretold us there would be "labor pangs" just before His return, so take heed because when we see them growing stronger and occurring closer together we know the birth of the new age is nigh at hand.Luke 21:23
But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
The whole point for the purpose of this study is to document that our Father is in complete control and the events of this generation and the "affliction" of our people symbolized by "labor pangs" are all part of the Plan of God in bringing forth the birth of the New Nation. "Labor pangs" have been His Plan from the beginning and hopefully you have gained some insight from understanding the birth process and the reason for the labor pangs in this final generation?Mark 13:8sorrows = ¨äßíoôdino-deen' Strong's #5604
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Akin to G3601; a pang or throe, especially of childbirth:—pain, sorrow, travail.
By the way? Have you ever thought about why it is that babies "cry aloud" at birth? Think about the "squeezing in the womb" that they just endured! Then think about the fact that they are naked and completely dependent and in need of covering and nurturing, etc.
So in understanding our Father's plan in this final generation just before the birth of a new age, bring on the labor pains and let's get this new nation delivered!
"For now" means "meanwhile, i.e. before that day". "Babylon" comes from the root word "babel" which means "confusion". Just as our forefathers were taken captive and scattered among the nations AS A TYPE for us to "see" today (1 Cor. 10:11), so shall our people be spiritually taken to that "State of Confusion" (Babylon) which means they will be spiritually taken captive and scattered, which is analogous to "wandering about" (confused) having lost their way, even to the point of losing their identity of who they really are, i.e. the true house of Israel.[10] Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.
It is therefore written that our people SHALL go into Babylon and SHALL be "delivered" out of Babylon, but not by cesarean section. However, you can come out of her now and not suffer the spiritual "affliction" in this final generation. That is why it is written in Rev. 18 to COME OUT OF Babylon (religious confusion) NOW before it is too late and you are treaded and squeezed in the winepress!
Again, as we have discussed in prior studies, many (most) Christians actually dwell in darkness (confusion, Babylon) believing that they are "safe and secure" from "stumbling" before the false messiah, i.e. Satan, the destroyer, the abomination of desolation, i.e. the desolator spoken of by Daniel the prophet. Most of them believe man's lies that they will be taken in a "rapture" before the great tribulation of the "vile person". Have they not read their history? Their forefathers did not escape the king of Babylon and neither shall they!Rev. 18:4
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
"Wherefore", Paul writes, "let him that thinketh he standeth [safe and secure, peace and safety] take heed [to the history of our people] lest he fall." (1 Cor. 10:12)1 Thes. 5:3
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
Likewise, the nations who come against His children/the Christian nations of the world, i.e., the true of the House of Israel, shall also not escape His chastisement and His judgment:
This is also part of His Plan that the nations "gather" and join together in the New World Order, the beast of Rev. 13:1. "Let our eye look upon Zion" means they look upon her to "spoil" her, as in destroy her.Micah 4:11
Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.
Note: The Christians nation are currently also part of "The New World Order", but what about the "deadly wound" to that beast, which is yet to come? Hum! I WONDER! Isn't it exciting to speculate?
Is it not amazing how the gentile nations fulfill God's Plan and yet they do not know Him nor His Counsel, i.e. His Word? However, they SHALL get to know the great "I AM" and that He alone is the God of the earth, for the LORD shall be a witness unto those nations for their sins against the true House of Israel. As it is written, He is going to thrash them on the threshing floor, for their own good of course because He loves them too![12] But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.
Horn is symbolic of power and as He promised in vs. 7, "... I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever." The Kingdom of God, that "strong nation", shall reign supreme and "the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem" (Micah 4:2). In other words, His rule shall go forth as a "Rod of Iron" and His kings and priests shall carry the charge.[13] Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.
What a glorious time that will be. Let us never forget it so we can put the events that are occurring and shall yet happen in their proper perspective. The great apostasy, the spiritual seduction by "The Vile Person", (Satan as the false husband), brings forth labor pangs.
Perhaps also, the words of Jesus Christ in Luke 23 as He walked up that hill to pay the price to cover our sins will now make a little more sense:
"The sad story" according to Jesus Christ is not Him paying the price on the cross. The sad story is the lamentation (sad song) we read right here in the Book of Micah (chpt. 1) which is the idolatry, the spiritual seduction, the "sin of Samaria", and the spiritual death of many of our brothers which follows.Luke 23:27
And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.
"The sad truth" is that most Christians who are to remain virgins in this final generation will follow in the footsteps to the fig grove like mother Eve and in the footsteps of their forefathers to the hills of Samaria. And just as Eve was seduced and impregnated literally as a type, an ensample for us to "see" (1 Cor. 10:11), so shall most Christians be spiritually seduced and spiritually impregnated by Satan in this final generation. See next two verses!
Blessed are they who are "barren", who have NOT been seduced and who have remained "chaste virgins" unto the coming of the true Bridegroom, their one and only Husband![28] But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.[29] For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
But Woe to those who do not remain virgins for they will know they are "naked" because of their sin (just like Adam and Eve) and will be ashamed (just like Adam and Eve) and they will want to hide themselves because of what they have done (just like Adam and Eve hid themselves from Him). The only thing is that spiritual nakedness is must worse than physical nakedness just like spiritual death is far greater than physical death (Mat. 10:28)!
Yes, it was spoken by the LORD in both the Old and the New Testaments that the spiritually "barren" are indeed blessed.[30] Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
Having therefore read the words Christ, let us conclude this study with Isaiah 54:1-5.
The majority of Christians shall travail. Chaste virgins do not!Isaiah 54:1
Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.
The mountain of the Lord shall be established on high and reign over all nations (inherit the gentiles)![2] Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;[3] For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
Those who Love the Lord and remain true to His Word are not and shall not be confounded (confused in Babylon) and therefore they shall NOT be "taken" and spiritually "impregnated" by the false messiah when he comes standing in the holy place claiming to be the bridegroom.[4] Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
Remain true to the Word of God and you shall never be ashamed![5] For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits;
to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy
Spirit, you accomplish both.
