As Jesus walked up this hill toward His certain death,
what do you suppose was on His mind?

The word "Calvary" also means skull, so called because of the cranial shape of the rock or hillock. As Jesus walked up this hill toward His certain death, what do you suppose was on His mind? "Woe is Me?" Not a chance! He came to this earth for this very purpose of dying on the cross and He will drink every drop of the cup that His Father gave to Him. No, He was thinking about the final generation, yours and mine. Listen to His words as He walks up the hill and the women are weeping and bewailing and lamenting Him:

Luke 23:28
But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
Can you imagine this? Jesus tells them not to weep for Him, but to weep for themselves! Why?
[29] For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.
What "days are coming" is He talking about? The same days He was talking about in Matthew 24 concerning those days just before His second coming. You see, He's on His way to be crucified and "go away" for 2,000 years, and when He returns, He is expecting to marry a "VIRGIN BRIDE". But there will be another wedding before He gets here, when Satan sits in the Temple claiming to be the Bridegroom and most will LET HIM SEDUCE THEM.

So Jesus' words are a message for us TODAY, for "those days" are coming to our generation! Here's is what He told the disciples when they ask about "those days" just before His second coming:

Matthew 24:19
And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
How would you feel if you were engaged and went away for awhile only to return to find your "bride to be" nursing a newborn baby (hers)? Would you be happy?

Note: Many preachers and other Biblically illiterate teachers have used these verses to scare and warn women that it might not be a good idea to get pregnant and have children in these last days. How stupid can some people be? Don't let them "screw you" out of having a family. Christ wasn't talking about natural child birth and breast feeding. It's an analogy.

Luke 23:30
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.
Those who marry the false-christ, those women in the field taken first, will be so ashamed when the True Bridegroom returns that they will wish the mountains to fall on them! The EXACT same thing is recorded in Revelation concerning those who are deceived by "Instead of Jesus" and don't make it.
Rev. 6:16
And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
Again, He won't be too happy with those who whore after Satan!
Luke 23:31
For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
If they do these things, beat and crucify Him physically, while He is alive and the blood still flows through His limbs (hence a green tree), what shall they do in the dry, i.e. to the spiritual body, your soul!

(You can read of the horrible "spiritual warfare" and devastation to the soul in the Book of Revelation.)

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
