Pamphlet 1494 Obah kc 4-2
Do you know why Jesus only read the first part of Isaiah 61:2 before He closed the book and handed it back to the minister?
Have you read in Luke 4:17-20 where Jesus stood up in the temple and read from the 61st chapter of the Book of Isaiah? He read verse 1 and only the first part of verse 2, "to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD", and then He closed the book, gave it to the minister, and sat down. The reason He did not quote the second part is because it would not be until His second advent that this scripture would be fulfilled when He pours out His cup of wrath upon all nations.
Note: Read the rest of Psalm 61 and it will help you understand the restoration of the kingdom of God upon Mount Zion and how it shall spread to cover all nations.Isaiah 61:2
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits;
to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy
Spirit, you accomplish both.
