And so it did come to pass that the once mighty arm (bow) of Israel was broken and the kingdom of Israel was taken away. Hey, they had all become whores, idolaters, and followed after other gods instead of remaining faithful to His covenant. So God sent the chariots and horsemen of Assyria to take them all away, and they did!The American Wisdom Series

Hosea 1:5
And it shall come to pass at that day, that I will break the bow of Israel in the valley of Jezreel.
Gomer now conceives again and has another child, this time a daughter!2 Kings 18:11
And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria, and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes:[12] Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.
Our Father also named this child and He called her Lo-ruhamah, which means "not beloved". It was not that God actually stopped loving His children, God forbid, but because of their idolatry, their whoring around with other gods, He would no longer keep them from the consequences of their actions. It's time to go the old woodshed! The love He now shows them is what is called "tough love"! And the truth of matter is, as any parent who has to discipline his or her children in this manner knows, "tough love" is actually tougher on the executor of that love than it is on the recipient, i.e. it hurts Him more because of His deep love for His children.Hosea 1:6
And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.
Nevertheless, as we read in verse 4, our Father utterly "took away the kingdom which belonged to them" and the kingdom of Israel was never restored from that Assyrian captivity. Judah on the other hand, at least a remnant thereof (even though by then there were many sons of Cain mixed among them), did return from her captivity after 70 years.
To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits;
to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy
Spirit, you accomplish both.
