Peter writes his second letter to "stir up our brains"
and to remind us all of something!

2 Peter 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

and to remind us all of something!

Let's see what that something is!

[2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
We had better pay attention to what the prophets,
like Haggai,
have to say and heed the instruction of the apostles
concerning these last days,
keeping in mind the following fact:
[3]Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
It seems everyone is so busy doing his or her own thing
that if you even mention God's Word
or the end of this earth age
or the return of Christ,
they just scoff and say "Yeah, right!

People have been predicting that stuff since the beginning of time!

Look, I've really gotta go now."

[4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
You see, the problem is they are ignorant, by choice,
because they just don't care or desire to know,
of the fact that God ALREADY SHOOK the heavens and the earth ONCE BEFORE,
in the first earth age, in the "world that then was" as Peter calls it!

It is WRITTEN in HIS WORD (Gen. 1:2, Jer. 4:19-27, 2 Pet. 3:5-6)!

That is how the dinosaurs and all the once living things
we find in the fossil records PERISHED!

Not only is it written in His Word but the physical evidence of that destruction
is abundant and that it is was catastrophic is made clear!

[5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

[6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

Peter goes on to make the point that if you do not think He will do it again,
i.e. shake the heavens and the earth, then you are a fool indeed!

"Does anybody know what time it is?

Does anybody really care?"

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
