Pamphlet 1188Jesus is half Jew and half Levite
Luke 1:5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
[6] And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
And
we just read that they both walked in the commandments
and
ordinances of the Lord blameless.
So
let there be no doubt about it:
Elizabeth,
the soon to be mother of John the Baptist,
was
a PURE BLOODED LEVITE.
(That also means John the Baptist was not a Jew, but a pure Levite, too.)
So what's the big deal about that, you say?
It's HUGE!
We
learned earlier that we documented conclusively that Mary's father
was
a pure blooded Judahite (Jew)?
And
now we have learned that Elizabeth,
the
wife of Zacharias was a pure blooded Levite!
Well, when we get to verse 36 we will discover that Elizabeth was Mary's COUSIN!
Now think!
There is a reason we are given that "fact" that they were cousins.
In
order for Elizabeth to be a pure blooded Levite,
both
her mother and father had to be Levites, right? Right!
Now,
in order for Elizabeth and Mary to be cousins,
it
means that their mothers had to be sisters,
which
means they were both of the daughters of Aaron, i.e. both mothers were
Levites.
Remember,
we already KNOW that Mary's father was of Judah,
and
now we KNOW that Mary's mother was of Levi!
So Mary was HALF of the tribe of JUDAH and HALF of the tribe of LEVI.
You
see, the royal KINGSHIP line comes through the tribe of Judah,
and
the royal PRIESTHOOD line comes through the tribe of Levi.
The
reason there is so much space taken up in the gospels
with
the heritage of Christ's lineage is to document
that
He RIGHTFULLY & LEGALLY qualified,
even
right down to His PERFECT PEDIGREE as:
The KING of KINGS and the LORD of LORDS.
