#7156 What does a dead person need more than anything else?
He needs spiritual life. So, stop quenching the Holy Spirit!

In this 21st. century there is no doubt that our standards have declined to a point where phoniness is now accepted. From magazines to television, advertising has created a culture in which nobody expects either to say or to listen to or hear the truth anymore. According to the Bible the cause of our problem goes back to the "Garden of Eden". Sin, the Bible calls it. Sin is basically rebellion against God, i.e. following Satan's ways, as they did in the garden, instead of allowing our God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) to lead them.

God says we are spiritually dead in our trespasses as a result of this disease of sin, men and women are said in Scripture as being dead in sin meaning that have lost their eternal spiritual life. In Ephesians Paul told the Ephesians that prior to their repentance and inviting of Jesus into their heart, after which He made them alive again, they were dead in trespasses and sins.

"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sin, in which you once walked according to the course of the world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the sons of  disobedience" (Ephesians 2:1, 2). Paul said as a result of this deadness unrepentant sinners walk after the "lusts of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath" (verse 3).

Paul was not saying that they had been physically dead; But that spiritually a person has no chance of being awarded eternal life until they believe in Christ, repent of their sins, and invite Him into their heart to change them, making them righteous in the eyes of God, thereby making them eternally alive again.

For most of us, when we talk about death, we automatically think in terms of bodies and funerals and graves. This is physical death. In the 23rd. Psalm it is called the shadow of death, but that is not real death. An animal has a flesh and blood body, so do we in this earth age, but Christ advised us not to fear the death of our flesh and blood body; But to fear the death of our soul which only God can end, to be no more. That's real death!

Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, came to earth to live with us for a short while (33 years) in a flesh and blood animal type body just like ours. He lived a perfect sin free life while here, in the flesh, than sacrificed his life on a cross at Calvary, shedding HIS PERFECT SIN FREE BLOOD as a covering for the sins of all mankind; For all who will believe in him, repent of their sins, inviting Him to come live in their heart.

What does a dead person need more than anything else? He needs spiritual life. And Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life" (John 10:10).

What's wrong with the majority of the human race is that most of us are spiritually dead in our sin acting as if God doesn't even exist. Following Satan and his ways just as Adam and Eve did in the "Garden of Eden", carrying on just as we did in the first earth age when 4 1/2 billion of us followed Lucifer in his rebellion against God. (Satan was named Lucifer then) That was before God, removed us from the earth; And in his fierce anger destroyed that first earth age. Sentencing Lucifer/Satan to death, TO BE NO MORE; And devised His plan to salvage the souls of us, the rest of His children by placing us back here on a again made livable second earth age, in these animal bodies we now find ourselves in. Whereby, God Himself as His own flesh and blood Son would come to live with us for a short while, (33 years). Then sacrifice His life on that cross on Calvary, shedding His sin free blood to cover the sins of mankind. For all of us who will believe on Him, repent of our sins and claim His precious blood as a covering for our sins.

Eternal life is a free gift. God has offered us and most of us act as if we don't even care. If we don't accept His free offer of eternal life we also will have our souls destroyed, just like Satan's; TO BE NO MORE after the "Great White Throne of Judgment".

Will you accept and receive God's offer? It's free. You too, can have eternal life and live more abundantly in Jesus. And you don't have to wait until you get to heaven to get this spiritual life. You can get it right now. The Holy Spirit will come to live within your heart and the Holy Spirit will stay there for all eternity. JUST BELIEVE, REPENT OF YOUR SINS, and CLAIM CHRIST'S BLOOD TO COVER THEM. His gift of grace is free and promised to all of us.

If you are outside of Christ, you are a spiritually dead person. The place of your spiritual deadness is your daily existence. Your physical body is the tomb of your spiritual death. Without Christ you are dead in your sins, even while still alive physically. But God offers eternal life to all who will come to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. You can commit your life to Him right now by turning from your sins and putting your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

To start a relationship with Him, pray--just talk to God. Pray something like this:
"Oh God, I know I am a sinner. I'm sorry for my sins. I want to turn from my sin. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son; I believe He died on the cross for my sin and you raised Him to life, defeating death. I want to trust Him as my savior and follow Him as my Lord from this day forward, forevermore. Lord, I put my trust in You and surrender my life to You. Please come into my life and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name. Amen."

You don't have to do anything else. Christ will take over from here and get the job done. You have now become a piece of work. Christ will do the task.

But if you quench the Holy spirit EXPECT DISCIPLINE in your life! Remember, that discipline is a act of love by a loving God.
