John's Note Oct. 18, 2016: I'm now 76 years old and I've been a Christian for over 65 years, I have studied the Bible often, have read the Bible cover to cover at least a half dozen or more times and thought I knew it pretty well; But, recently the Holy Spirit has opened my eyes to something I had never thought too much about in the past.

One of the most controversial subjects for Bible students is, the history of the earth and when human, upright walking man, first appeared. Scientist's opinion versus Biblical scholar's opinion.  Creation, as I believe, or evolution as most scientists believe. What have I learned recently? According to scientists the earth is many millions of years old. I have also believed that for the past 20, maybe 30 years (ever since I learned that there was a previous/first earth age). They also claim the bones of upright walking man have been found that are over 200 thousand years old. Because I'm a creation believer, I have been very skeptical of their claim, in the past. Recently I have reconsidered my thoughts on 200 thousand years versus 6000 years since Adam and Eve first appeared.

My position is:
God did create all of us, our souls, before He created the earth many millions, even billions of years ago; But we had angelic, celestial bodies back then; Not the flesh and blood, terrestrial (animal) bodies our soul is now housed in, so even though it happened a long, long time ago that doesn't explain how scientists found human bones that old.

See Live Link to->>>  We were first created spirit beings.

In the past when I consider these two opposing findings; The scientific findings, against what I thought was Biblical, I being a creationist, concluded that the scientists must be all wet! But, after further study, with the Holy Spirit's help, I now believe that we may both be correct. Well, the scientists, at least in some things (for some, the non-believers, they will always be looking for ways to prove what they think the Bible says, to be wrong)!

The earth is indeed many millions of years old; But even that was after the very beginning. In the beginning there was no earth! If I read Genesis 1:1, putting aside my previous assumptions, the Bible tells me that God created the heaven first; And then the earth. I once thought, and probably most people think those two creations happened very close to one another or at the same time, but the Bible doesn't say that; It may have been millions, even billions of years between those two creations.

At first glance Genesis 1:2 seems to say,  God created the earth without form and void (Which according to the Hebrew dictionary means, 'in total ruin'); But does that short description tell it, the way it actually happened, or did God just skip over the details with out making them clear to our understanding? Why, Because the real human story, He wants to tell us, starts in verse three. Think, for a minute, 'Did you ever in your life hear about any one building anything in total ruin?' Well, I doubt if God would, either!

Or is it the Bible translators doing?
see below caution:

Caution to students of God's Word - Please remember two things when using our American Wisdom Series studies:
#1. Our commentary is not God's Word. It is only our interpretation or understanding of "His Word" and even though we try our best to be accurate we may or may not be correct. #2. The King James translation, or any other translation, of the original Hebrew text has some words which were given different translations at different places probably because of the interpreters preconceived ideas of what they think God meant to say. For example: According to the notes in the "Dake's Annotated Reference Bible" the Hebrew word hayah in the KJV is Trans. (became) 67 times, (becamest or came to pass) 505 times, (become) 66 times, and (come to pass) 131 times, but for some reason in Genesis 1:2 it is translated (was)! That sure changes the way a person perceives the original creation of the earth, doesn't it?  Gen. 1:2 And the earth was (became) without form, ... Having said that, let us continue with our "studies". These studies contain knowledge, we believe, you must have to fully and accurately unlock and understand the Word of God.
May the Holy Spirit be your guiding light. Sincerely, John Rhine

Now, back to  My position:

That first earth age may have been millions, even billions, of years long. We were here, after God created us, He created the earth for us to live on, except He now wipes our memory clean before placing us back here on earth, into our mother's womb, during this earth age. And we had celestial bodies during the first earth age, therefore, no bones were left behind, when God, in His fierce anger destroyed that earth age because of Lucifer's/Satan's sin of drawing one third of us (4 billion of us) to follow him when he rebelled and tried to overthrow God. So that doesn't explain 200 thousand year old human bones!

Now we get to the Nitty, Gritty, of it all and why I now think the scientists may indeed have found 200 thousand year old human bones.

Genesis 1:3-2:1 tells us about God's remaking the earth to be livable again (it doesn't say, livable again, in these verses, but that is what he was doing), after the destruction of the first earth age; And how he placed  and is placing us, as flesh and blood human beings, back on it after the other creatures (wild animals) that He had created. In verse 26 & 27 of chapter one He tells us He created mankind, in His own image. He created them male and female and told them to go out and reproduce and fill the earth with their like kind.

See Live Link to->>>   Flesh bodies similar to animal bodies
See Live Link to->>>   So, Who are we? Are we just people living here on earth in a animal type (terrestrial) body, although with greater intelligence than animals?   Are we hoping to, in our eternal life, live forever in a new and better animal (terrestrial) body, without pain or suffering of any kind?

The Bible, as I, and I dare say most people always read it, seems to say, in Genesis that Man, as in upright walking human being (Adam and Eve) was created a little over 6000 years ago. But, Were Adam and Eve, who you are thinking of, the first flesh and blood humans? The Bible records show them, Adam and his help meet Eve to have been created, or should I say formed, as recorded in Genesis chapter two verse seven, 6000 years ago. But, are they the same people talked about in chapter one? They are not!

See Live Link to->>>  This message is for those people who seem to think Adam and Eve talked about  in Genesis chapter 2 were the male and female God created on day six as described in Genesis chapter 1.

Mankind, (the races), as created in Genesis chapter one may well have happened more than 200 thousand years before the individual man Adam and his help meet Eve (the grandparents of our Lord Jesus as a human man), were formed, as recorded in chapter two:  So the scientists, in this case, may be correct.

Let me explain my assertion.

The Hebrew word translated man, in chapter one is "adham", it means "mankind in general".

Concerning the individual man, Adam; the Hebrew word translated "man" in Genesis chapter 2 verse 7 is "'eth-ha adham", with the article and particle ('eth-ha), and it means "this same man, Adam". It means a specific man, not mankind in general. (formed on what I call the eighth day, I call it eighth day only because it happened after God's seventh day of rest.) The creation of mankind in general is recorded in Genesis chapter 1 verse 26; the Hebrew word translated "man" in Genesis 1:26 and 27 is "adham", without the article and particle. It means mankind in general. (They were created on the sixth day).

So, if  there was a long period of time between these two events, that would explain the 200 thousand  year age of the human bones the scientists say they've found. The Bible says 2 days but is that "a figure of speech"?  II Peter 3:8 indicates that it might be!  II Peter 3:8 "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day."

Providing all I assert above is true and I believe it is; What does that mean?

I'll try to think this through based only on what the Lord has told us in chapters one and two of Genesis. Forgive me if I get off of the
chapters one and two topic. I have a habit of doing that sometimes.

First of all it means that the people created on the sixth day, when the animals were created  before them (that would be the 'beasts of the earth', wild animals, tigers, lions, bears, snakes, alligators and such) were the races, mankind in general. These people were told to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth (actually refill the earth, since it was populated earlier during the first earth age, just not with men in animal bodies). God said in verse 26 that mankind would have dominion over these animals. He also told them to be fruitful, and multiply and fill the earth, and subdue all of these wild creatures. (verse28) All this happened on the sixth day; But how long was that day? (Was it over 200 thousand years long? And did God create all of mankind at one time or was it spread out over the 200 thousand years?) That would help us explain how humans first appeared in Africa and later in other parts of the old world (Asia and China, for example). These people were hunters and fishers, and gatherers, but did God teach them any kind of use of tools and weaponry? I don't know, He does not tell us He did. If not, It must have been a very hard and dangerous life they lived.

Now let's talk a little bit about what we are told in chapter two. This special man "'eth-ha adham", (Adam and his help meet Eve, the great, great grand parents of the virgin Mary, who gave birth to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are told they were formed, not created as were "adham", mankind, in chapter one. God planted a garden (verse 8) for these two people to live in, they were not told to go forth and fill the earth with like kind. These two people, for what ever the reason, must have been thought of as special in the the eyes of God, probably because of some event in the first earth age, because He gave them living souls and He wanted them to stay on the farm (not roaming around through out the earth reproducing with mankind. They were to stay of the farm, (verse 15) so to speak, and remain of pure pedigree (Certainly, until Christ was born). These people were farmers, and were formed before the farm animals were formed (beasts of the field, not beasts of the  earth as in chapter one. In verse 16 He commanded them to not 'eat of' (a figure of speech meaning to fall for anything evil, said by) the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Satan), or they shall surely die. (loose their "living souls").

But alas! They screwed up and fell for Satan's lie which must have been his wanting to 'touch'  Eve, because, EVE EVEN SAID TO HIM, IN CHAPTER 3 VERSE 3,  THAT GOD SAID, YE SHALL NOT EAT OF IT, NEITHER SHALL YE TOUCH IT, LEST YE DIE. God had not mentioned 'touch', so Satan must have planted that in her mind.  The Hebrew word (nâga‛ naw-gah') Which translated to English is 'touch' and means to lay the hand upon (for any purpose; euphemistically, to lie with a woman);

Anyway, after Adam and Eve had their orgy with Satan, God kicked them out of His garden and they lost their 'living souls'! Then they became like all of mankind, having a soul, still liable to die, the second death. And you guessed it! Eve conceived and later had twin sons. Cain, fathered by Satan and Abel, fathered by Adam.

Satan, after he had Cain kill Abel, thought he accomplished what he set out to do, i.e. destroy Adam's and Eve's pure blood line; Except Eve had another son and at least one daughter who Adam fathered, making Seth's and the daughter's descendants of pure pedigree. The goal being to remain of pure pedigree until Christ would be born to that line of humans. That's when Satan had his fallen angels came to earth impregnating daughters of Eve to attempt to contaminate the complete blood line. It was working too, except for Noah's flood which God brought on that part of the earth when there were only 8 souls left of pure Adam and Eve pedigree. BUT THAT"S ANOTHER STORY!

See Live Link to->>>  Noah's Flood

From the Hebrew dictionary - nâga‛ naw-gah' A primitive root; properly to touch, that is, lay the hand upon (for any purpose; euphemistically, to lie with a woman); by implication to reach (figuratively to arrive, acquire); violently, to strike (punish, defeat, destroy, etc.): - beat, (X be able to) bring (down), cast, come (nigh), draw near (nigh), get up, happen, join, near, plague, reach (up), smite, strike, touch.

The above notes about the original manuscripts for Genesis chapter 1:26 and chapter 2:7 are taken from margin of The Companion Bible. See Massorah protection of original manuscripts below.

The Massorah. (The Massorah is called "A Fence to the Scriptures" because it locked all the words and letters in their places.
This Is Appendix 30 From The Companion Bible.
All the oldest and best manuscripts of the Hebrew Bible contain
on every page, beside the Text (which is arranged in two or more
columns), a varying number of lines of smaller writing, distributed
between the upper and lower margins. This smaller writing is called
the Massorah Magna or Great Massorah, while that in the side
margins and between the columns is called the Massorah Parva or
Small Massorah.
The illustration given below is a reduced facsimile of a Hebrew
Manuscript (16.25 x 12.375), written in a German hand, about the
year A.D. 1120.

The small writing in the margins in this particular Manuscript is
seen to occupy seven lines in the lower margin, and four lines in the
upper; while in the outer margins and between the three columns is
the Massorah Para.
The word Massorah is from the root masar, to devliver something
into the hand of another, so as to commit it to his trust. Hence the
name is given to the small writing referred to, because it contains
information necessary to those into whose trust the Sacred Text was
committed, so that they might transcribe it, and hand it down
correctly.
The Text itself had been fixed before the Massorites were put in
charge of it. This had been the work of the Sopherim (from saphar,
to count, or number). Their work, under Ezra and Nehemiah, was to
set the Text in order after the return from Babylon; and we read of it
in Nehemiah 8:8 1 (compare Ezra 7:6,11). The men of "the Great
Synagogue" completed the work. This work lasted about 110 years,
from Nehemiah to Simon the first, 410-300 B.C.
The Sopherim were the authorised revisers of the Sacred Text;
and, their work being completed, the Massorites were the authorised
custodians of it. Their work was to preserve it. The Massorah is
called "A Fence to the Scriptures," because it locked all words and
letters in their places. It does not contain notes or comments as such,
but facts and phenomena. It records the number of times the several
letters occur in the various books of the Bible; the number of words,
and the middle word; the number of verses, and the middle verse;
the number of expressions and combinations of words, etc. All this,
not from a perverted ingenuity, but for the set purpose of
safeguarding the Sacred Text, and preventing the loss or
misplacement of a single letter or word.
This Massorah is not contained in the margins of any one
Manuscript. No Manuscript contains the whole, or even the same
part. It is spread over many Manuscripts, and Dr. C.D. Ginsburg has
been the first and only scholar who has set himself to collect and
collate the whole, copying it from every available Manuscript in the
libraries of many countries. He has published it in three large folio
volumes, and only a small number of copies has been printed. These
are obtainable only by the original subscribers
When the Hebrew Text was printed, only the large type in the
columns was regarded, and small type of the Massorah was left,
unheeded, in the Manuscripts from which the Text was taken.
When translators came to the printed Hebrew Text, they were
necessarily destitute of the information contained in the Massorah;
so that the Revisers as well as the Translators of the Authorised
Version carried out their work without any idea of the treasures
contained in the Massorah; and therefore, without giving a hint of it
to their readers
This is the first time an edition of the Authorised Version has been
given containing any of these treasures of the Massorah, that affect
so seriouly the understanding of the Text. A vast number of the
Massoretic notes concern only the orthography, and matters that
pertain to the Concordance. But many of those which affect the
sense, or throw any additional light on the Sacred Text, are noted in
the margin of The Companion Bible.
Some of the important lists of words which are contained in the
Massorah are also given, videlicet, those that have the
"extraordinary points" (Appendix 31); the "eighteen emendations"
of the Sopherim (see Appendix 33); the 134 passages where they
substituted Adonai for Jehovah (see Appendix 32); and the Various
Readings called Severin (see Appendix 34). These are given in
separate Appendixes; but other words of any importance are
preserved in our marginal notes.
Readers of The Companion Bible are put in possession of
information denied to former generations of translators,
commentators, critics, and general Bible students.
For futher information on the Massorah see Dr. Ginsburg's
Introduction to the Hebrew Bible, of which only a limited edition
was printed; also a small pamphlet on The Massorah published by
King's Printers.
1 The Talmud explains that "the book" meant the original text;
"distinctly" means explaining it by giving the Chaldee paraphrase;
"gave the sense" means the division of words, etc. according to the
sense; and "caused them to understand the reading" means to give
the traditional pronuciation of the words (which were then without
vowel points).

I hope and pray that nothing of what I said above Contradicts  any thing I posted earlier on this web site; But, I must admit I've learned many new things over the twelve or more years since first placed  this web site on line, and am not very good at keeping track of what's there. I do have over 6000 studies in my americanwisdomseries file.  If I have contradicted any thing I said earlier, I'm awfully sorry.new belief of my; Although these happenings are not a new belief for me: It's only the long period of time between the creation of mankind and the forming of Adam and Eve that is new to me. This is what I now conclude after further study, as of October 2017!

A Spiritual Boot Camp
That's What This Earth Age is!

Question: Why is God placing us back here on earth, this time, in animal bodies?

Answer: Because, we had never experienced death during the first earth age, therefore, We never understood the permanency of what the death of our soul would mean. In the first earth age we had a body like Christ had after he arose from the dead, when he entered the locked room with out opening a door, as described in John 20:19 "Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, "Peace be unto you."

No one aged and died back then.  You see, back in the first earth age we all had celestial bodies
during the millions of years after our creation; Bodies like Christ had after His resurrection, and none of us had ever died. God created us, had we not joined Lucifer in his rebellion, to live for ever. We, including Lucifer/Satan; therefore, thought we were indestructible. Oh we had seen animals being born and and later die; but not us, we didn't have flesh and blood bodies. We in that first earth age thought we were like God. When God sentenced Lucifer to die in the "Lake of Fire" at the end of this second earth age He chose to give us a opportunity to still salvage our own soul.

But, Alas! You we don't and many of us still don't know the lesson we are taught in  Acts 17:28. Oh! Intellectually we know someday our flesh and blood body is going to die; But, we can't or won't equate this to our soul.
Acts 17:28  For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Think long and hard about what Paul is saying here in Acts 17:28. Every breath, every movement; our very being is dependent on Him, every moment of our lives! We are not existing in some sort of automatic mode which someday he ends, i.e. Physical death; No, we are dependent on Him for each and every breath as it happens! And we are also dependent on Him for the continuation of the life of our soul.

We need to learn this lesson. God places us here in these animal bodies so that we realize our need to accept His offer of, salvation by His grace, in this earth age.

That is the only reason He placed us here
this second time!

After Lucifer's sin, God determined that we needed to learn just how permanent the death of our soul will be; Therefore, He decided to bring us back on a rebuilt earth in animal bodies, where we would experience the life and death of our loved ones, who we can no longer communicate with after they die, the "shadow death" (the death of their flesh and blood body, as talked about in the 23rd. Psalm), in order to teach us how permanent the loss of our soul will be.

And the need for us to accept His offer of grace, taking advantage of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ's perfect shed blood, on the cross at Calvary, to  cover them over, to be remembered no more by Him. He is able to do this because, He is BOTH GOD AND MAN! If we will only believe in Him and invite Him into our heart to change us and make us acceptable in His eyes. Not by anything we, ourselves do, for He will do it for us.
