The False Rapture Theory, that
 most all of Christianity has been duped into promoting!
 
This verse, 1 Thessalonians 4:17, is the verse most people base their "Rapture of the Church" theory on; But take note, 4 verses earlier as 1 Thessalonians 4:13 clearly states the subject being discussed here in verse 17 is not the church, it concerns those of us which are asleep. Our friends and relatives who have preceded us in death. Even if this verse was about the church, it doesn't say what those who hold this theory think it says. A very quick study of the Hebrew words translated "clouds" and "air" will show that.

The Greek word translated air in 1 Thessalonians 4:17 is aēr and the definition has nothing to do with the English word air, as in the sky, so how some people make a rapture of the church out of this I'll never know!

A primary verb; to breathe (voluntarily but gently; thus differing on the one hand from G4154, which denotes properly a forcible respiration; and on the other from the base of G109, which refers properly to an inanimate breeze), that is, (by implication of reduction of temperature by evaporation) to chill (figuratively): - wax cold.

And another thing, The clouds this verse, (1 Thessalonians 4:17) talks about are not clouds in the sky, but clouds of people (groups of people) the same as talked about in Hebrews 12:1, Not clouds in the sky as clouds in our English language would be.

Heb 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

So I ask, How do they get rapture of the church out of this? (as in meeting our Lord up in the sky some where.) Our Lord is coming directly to earth and He said He will gather the tares first, not His church!
But again let me say, "the subject being talked about here is not the church; IT'S THE DEAD!  
 
THERE IS NO RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH GOING TO HAPPEN AT ANY TIME! Christ is coming right here to earth to set up his Millennium Kingdom and the church will be here to help Him, including all the dead in Christ!
