"Two Wolves and a Sheep"

Pure democracy is two wolves and a sheep
deciding what to have for dinner
based solely on how hungry they are at the moment.

Our Founding Fathers did not establish the United States government
as a pure democracy.

Pure democracies by their very nature, self-destruct.

With divine wisdom and guidance
they established our country as
a democratically elected representative republic,
with a rule book to be followed;
thereby, protecting our God granted rights.

The Declaration of Independence
and the Constitution, with its Bill of Rights,
were designed to protect the sheep,
no matter how hungry the wolves become.

The system worked well for about 150 years.

Since then, the leaders of two political parties,
one Republican and the other Democrat,
elected to each represent their own flock of sheep,
learned that if they worked together,
they could change the rule book in such a way
as to allow themselves,
to become ruling wolves,
controlling  the sheep.

That change is gun control.

They have taken advantage
of some unfortunate situations
to convinced the sheep
that they would be safer
and could be protected
if they were unarmed.

Without arms, we the sheep can't demand that our representatives,
who have now become wolves,
represent our best interests.

We no longer have a representative republic
protecting the sheep from the wolves.

We have what is possibly worse than majority rule.
We have minority rule.

Our Representative Republic,
while governed by an unchanging rule book,
worked for all,
the wolves and the sheep.

Majority Rule or Minority Rule;
neither will work,
if the sheep are defenseless.
