My highlighted verses: John 16:7  Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8  And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9  Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10  Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11  Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

John 16:7Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
Again, it is a good thing that He goes away. He must pay the price else there would be no Comforter.
[8] And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
Reprove means to convince or convict. Notice the three parts of this verse: sin, righteousness, and judgment. Here then are "becauses" of each conviction:
John 16:9
Of sin, because they believe not on me;

John 16:10
Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

John 16:11
Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

The prince of this world has been judged. He was judged in the "world that then was" (II Pet. 3) and sentenced to die (Ezek. 28). But though he has been judged, his death sentence isn't carried out until after the judgment of everyone else, even after the great white throne judgment. Meanwhile, he is the "messiah" of this world.

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
