"Pitch it"

Genesis 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

Our Father now "foretells His servants", as He always does,
what is going to happen next.

He is now going to eradicate the mess in this land, and every living thing in it.

The phrase, "I will destroy them 'with' the earth", should read, "from" the earth.

So God tells Noah to go build a big boat
and He gives him the blue prints complete with measurements and a materials list.

This was necessary because there were no Home Depots in those days.

[14] Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
"Pitch it" means to "coat it" and comes from the Hebrew word kapher,
which means to cover.

It is the only word for "atonement" in the Old Testament and lets us know that only "atonement" can protect us from the waters of judgment.

"With pitch" is the Hebrew kopher, meaning "resin" and not "bitumen", which is zepheth

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
