Pamphlet 1986 Hebrews kc 20-2

Oh, you didn't know that your faith shall be put to the test?

How solid is your faith?

Is it founded upon the Rock, the Word of God?

Well, you will soon find out as we enter into the final hour of the last days,
the period known as the great testing period... or if your prefer, the great tribulation!

Oh, you didn't know that your faith shall be put to the test?

Abraham's faith was surely tested, wasn't it?

Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
This has got to be the ultimate test of one's faith!

However, remember we said earlier to keep in mind that Abraham knew that the promised "seed",
not Isaac but Messiah Himself, would come through his loins, through his son Isaac?

Therefore, because Abraham "staggered not" in His belief
that God is faithful to His promises and is able to perform them,
he just logically figured that God would "raise up Isaac from the dead"!

In fact, verse 19 below documents that is precisely what was on his mind when he lifted up that knife!

[18] Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
Again, Abraham knew this promise of God and believed it to be true.

In other words, he judged God to be faithful to His Word!

That "full assurance" in his mind did not allow for doubt to conceive
but to logically conclude that since God certainly is able to raise the dead,
that must be what He is going to do to Isaac, raise him up.

[19] Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
Some people wonder why God would ask Abraham to do such a thing,
but as we discussed in an earlier study, Abraham (whose name means "father of many nations")
was, a type of the Father/God, who would sacrifice His only begotten son/Jesus to pay the penalty for the sins of the world.

Thought for today -  We will all be tested - God hasn't tested me, as yet, you say! You think not!  (Better read Psalms 17:3) - Then think about those strange situations you sometimes find yourself in, in your dreams? Do you remember what you had just done or said a moment before you woke up? God knows what you did or said!!!  So, do you still think you aren't being tested???

In conclusion, remember to stay in your Father's Word every day
and become "fully assured" by the "witness" and "testimony" of all those who have gone before us,
that our Father is faithful to all of His promises and He is a rewarder of those who sincerely love and serve Him.

Furthermore, know that it pleases Him so much that when we are "tried",
though it be with fire, we "stagger not" and exercise our faith by trusting and believing in Him!

How precious it is indeed!

1 Peter 1:7-9 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

[8] Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

The joy of serving Him is beyond words.
[9] Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
 Read all of Hebrews 11.

Paul continues to present the testimonials of our forefathers
who through faith gave witness and testified to the fact that God is Faithful to His every word.

Are you "fully convinced"?

The evidence upon which you can stand is truly overwhelming!

To study the Bible is the noblest of all pursuits; to understand it, the highest of all goals.
We pray that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, you accomplish both.
