"Your Spirit Returns to God
After Your Physical Death"

Some people read the following verse
and think it means
that when you die you are buried along with your body
and later resurrected.

Dan 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life,
and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

"Them that sleep in the dust of the earth"
is an expression meaning those who have already died in the flesh.

We know from the Parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man in Luke 16
that there is a "gulf" or "division" in heaven
and those who have not overcome await there.

Eccl. 12:6-7 also makes it quite clear that when we die,
it matters not whether we know the Lord,
our flesh, which is dust,
returns to the earth and we return to our Father.
Eccles. 12:6-7 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. [7] Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Paul taught the same thing in the New Testament.
To be absent from the flesh body is to be present with the Lord.
2 Cor. 5:8-10 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. [9] Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him. [10] For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

There is no doubt about it,
the Bible,
in both testaments,
tells us that
we return to God
when our life in the flesh ends.

That is where we existed, [in the spirit]
since before the foundation of the earth,
and that is where we will exist again, [in the spirit]
after our flesh life,
here on this present earth, ends.

At least until the end of the 1000 year millennium
when we stand before God
at the "Great White Throne" of judgment.
